Gsus's first experinece of Vibealite : )
So I find out that I am going about a week before, Vibealite is normally many many miles from home but Leicester is quite close right... Turns out within 1 and a half hours we are parked up and hanging around outside with 50 or so other revellers and its only 7pm!
I hand out some glowsticks to the early arrivals, say hello to some peeps I know and some I don't. Excellent I've made some friends and we're not even in the venue yet : )

Shortly after 8 the doors open and we're ushered in, show my text pay my 20 quid and thats it, free set times too, I'm liking this!
A quick check of the set times shows we have some varied styles for our night, 5 arenas ultimately but right now just two are open... so its hard or ummmm... harder ; )
The appropriately named Techno Tunnel is already banging out the tunes, no lights execpt two solid green lasers and already the harder crew are kicking down!
Next door we have the Extreme arena which has also kicked off, you can see the ravers despearate to get to the main arena though. The bounceers teeasing us by opening the doors for a second... 9pm comes around but we're still not allowed in...
Shortly after though the doors open and in true hardcore style the crew quickly heads to the front, no sign of Hixxy but we have got Joey Riot and Sharkey so its all good!

This is what we came to do so lets do it! Kick down time. Joey hammers out a couple of tunes including the recent remix of Dance Me and then we get the first treat of the night. Sharks and Joey swap places, the atmosphere is hotting up already, I'm liking what I see Vibealite! The stage is nice and high and theres a lot of room up there. The decor is quality, the lasers are well placed and the strobe is side mounted and lights the place up nicely.

If you know me you'll know I like my old skool so I was well up for finding the other arenas, on my way I run into some peeps I haven't seen since the hardcore weekender, good to see you all crew : )
I know I'm not the only one who found it amusing you had to go through the gabber room to get to the old skool and residents arenas! However this caused less problems than I thought, everyone was amicable in letting you through every time, again I'm liking the atmosphere Vibealite, big up to you : )

I wander into the Rewind arena but... no sound, theres a guy stood near the decks with a t-shirt saying "Ahh I see the fuck up fairy has struck again" I take a picture of him appropriately in front of the silent sound system and decks. Then find out he's the DJ!! and he is waiting for some needles!

27 minutes after scheduled start time the needles are on and kickback kicks off the first Rewind set of the night, he told me he was gonna play some classics and he wasn't wrong. A nice bouncy vibe with anthems like Together Forever, Keep on Trying and Time after time keeps the crowd bouncing and more and more peeps turn up to join us. Its a shame Kickback didn't get a full hour as I was loving this set, big up mate nice one : )

Having had my old skool fix for the minute and considering it was getting wellll hot in there I took a wander around. The main arena was filling up nicely and the atmosphere was hotting up. I didn't notice any attitude at all everyone was just well up for it and most people I met were sound and smiling.

Midnight is nearly upon us and I know I have to be back in the old skool room, not gonna miss a Druid set especially as we're promised the DJs are playing their favourite sets from the past! Druid with Sharkey on the M.i.c this has got to be good!
Slipmatt is finishing off his set, Here I am is chiming out, what a tune, into Discoland, again tune!! Mixing out of that and we have a tune I have never heard out before but absolutely adore for personal reasons. "I make a picture of you and me" close your eyes and let it take you away! Slipmatt cuts the tune out and the crowd carries the tune on "Let me know your mine!" But wait the music hasn't come back in and Slipmatt looks confused, oh no!!

God knows what went wrong and it takes a while... The peeps who hung around are however rewared by a stomping set from the main man Druid and the Sharkey b2b.
Classic tune after classic tune, yes its hot but i'm not stopping dancing this is too good! Taking us through some tunes I can't name but I love from the old skool era and also seminal tunes such as "Cold as ice", 6 Days, Love of My life (what a tune!) and finishing up with Sharkey dropping, rewinding and dropping again the bouncy classic Toy town! The crew who stayed the course were loving it every bit as much as I was I am sure. Smiley faces all around.
At one point I had a quick sit down (you know what I'm talking about Astra ; ) apart from that though it was stomping from start to finish. The glow stick and white gloves crew were all around throwing shapes as only they know how and I was one of them hee hee.

The old skool room was very hot to be fair so big up to whoever let us chill out outside the fire exits, the cool night air was just what was needed : )

I spent the next two hours bouncing from room to room, quick bit of the Slipmatt b2b Sy two hours godfather set, a bit of the residents, bit more old skool and a bit of gabber! Taking pictures whereever I went as I do ; ) Met some more sound people and ran into even more I haven't seen in ages Yay!
This is what I really love about raves at the moment I look forward to seeing all these people and knowing I'm gonna meet more each time, to quote Sharkey "Its a party, Its a rave"

The main room was proper kicking off and the synchronised dancers were doing a stirling job, the stage being big enough to hold two mcs bouncing around and four dancers too! Plenty of room to entertain the crowd!

3 am has come around already so its back to the main room for a kick down to Scott Brown, he drops Wakey Wakey as the first tune, don't think we needed reminding the system is pounding not likely to fall asleep here!
So we have a room full of ravers possibly getting a bit hot what do we need, oh yeah thats it Sharkey with a super soaker! Thanks for that Sharkz you bastard ; ) On top of that the MCs and the dancers are giving out ice pops by the box full! Hmmm I love the taste of free stuff!

Scott finishes off the set in his own indonimatble style hammering out 20 minutes of the harder style of hardcore and then its time for the final two hours!
Gammer, Sharkey, Kevin Energy and Marc Smith playing together for the next two hours and... Sharkey is on the mic when he's not mixing too.

Whizzkid isn't around so Sharkz gives a tribute to his A-team lyric and Gammer drops the A-team theme tune to kick off the set! With the second and final hour of the set underway Sharkz is back on the mic. "does anyone want to play a game?" Turns out the game is pass the parcel hardcore style"

The box is tossed into the crowd and quickly passed around while we all kick down! Gammer teases the crowd with quick cuts then the music stops! Predictably when two people are holding it! Sharkz gives out some abuse to them when they take too long to open it "Come on hurry up we've got a rave to get on with" The raver then proceeds to open the second layer of the parcel and is greeted with more abuse from Sharkey! "Make some noise for the muppet 1.. 2.. 3" Haa haa quality Sharkey!

The final parcel is being lobbed around the crowd and then one guy decides he wants it, drops to the floor rips it open and runs off.... Sharkz gets wind of this and another torrent of abuse is dispelled from him then the set kicks back off! Now the next thing that surprised me somewhat is that the guy who did this then stands and the front of the stage still holding his Bonkers 15 "prize"!! You know who you are and we do too, shame on you, no need!

With that over and done with we have another 45 minutes to kick down then its all over until the next time.

Thank you Vibealite for a quality entertaining night I'll be seeing you again soon : )

Good things:
Atmosphere
Friendly Security
Friendly Bar Staff
Refills of water
Outdoor areas
Residents arena, good to see up and comings

Not so good things:
£3 for a bottle of water (but then free refills so....)
The heat in the old skool arena, really dry heat too (but then there was outside arena...)

Shouts to: The Vibealite organisers, The friendly bar staff (especially the ones with cool beards ; ), Astraboy, my Oxford crew Danni and Ema, Bexi, Ginger Jim, The R2TG crew, the RSI crew esp. Lins, LoopyLala and all of the new friends I made that night.

Nice to meet ya Gsus! See ya next week to do it all again!

Excellent nice from beginning to end! Didn't hear any music that I didn't like all night long, though managed to miss most of the sets I originally wanted to hear through wandering and chatting to peeps outside for hours!

Had a wicked night. Was the first time in about 3 years I have been out without my camera (it blew up on friday night!) so, apart from having to explain to ppl why I had no camera, it was a pleasant change. It was cool being back in Leicester uni too. Been there a few times before, but still managed to find some corridors and outside areas that I hadn't noticed before. All with plenty of firendly faces to talk to! haha

Gsus - come up to Leeds m8! Always a good night, with huge variety in the music!!!
