Ahead of Cosmic Gate’s eagerly awaited return to the famous Passion turntables Passion resident Genix decided to ask them a few questions…..

First of all it’s a great pleasure to welcome you back to Passion!....

It’s been along time since you last appeared at our club. Do you remember much about our special atmosphere from your last vist?
Passion is one of our favourite club night’s in the UK and it’s been way too long since we last played!!! We’re very happy to be back and rock the very special atmosphere in Coalville again!

Which of your tracks really put Cosmic Gate on the map? I remember Fire Wire being pretty huge a few years ago…
Fire Wire and Exploration of Space are the tracks people know the best from the early years, but we’re also known for more recent tracks like Analog Feel, Body of Conflict or Not Enough Time, the first single from our current album "Sign of The Times". Alongside this we’ve remixed numerous tracks during the last 10 years like Tiesto’s "Urban Train" and Ferry’s "Punk" to name just a few...

You have been releasing some huge dance anthems over the years. Consistent and quality dance music… However you have changed direction with your sound over the last few years… Are there any reasons for doing this? Has your music taste changed slightly or do you feel you are just moving with the times?
Of course, every Producer is influenced by what is going on in the music market in general, but we would never blindly follow a trend that we don’t like. We only produce what we like and feel, and back in the day it was more hard trance. Now our sound is still pumping and bouncy, but also has more progressive with trancey elements.

For those who don’t know… what does a Cosmic Gate track consist of? Can you describe your sound?
Music is always hard to put into words and to talk about your own music isn’t easy. What we always keep in mind and find very important is that music "touches" and gives positive emotion’s to the listener. That’s why we try to produce music that touches us at first, and hopefully many people after when listening to our track! It’s not important if it’s a pounding track like our current single Sign of The Times, or a more vocal orientated track like not Enough Time...

You have been appearing across the globe at the biggest clubs and festivals… have you noticed a change in clubbing over the past few years?
People are more open to different sounds. You find now that they’ll go to a house party on a Friday and follow a Trance DJ on a Saturday. Years back the scene was more separated from each other and it’s a good development that people are more open to different sounds. We like to play different kind of music in our longer sets!

Do you have any new tracks on the way that the clubbers should know about?
Our album Sign of the Times is still brand new. It was only released in March and the 2nd single from this album, a double A-Side containing the tracks Sign of The Times and f.a.v. (incl. a Markus Schulz Mix) has just been released exclusively on Beatport. In addition to this we’ve done several remixes during the last month including Armin’s "Rain" and John O'Callaghan’s "Find Yourself".

What are the big tunes in your box at the minute?
Fabio XB + Ronnie Play - Inside of Me (Cosmic Gate Remix)
Dash Berlin - Man on The Run (Nic Chagall Remix)
Rex Mundi - Nothing at all

Do you have any other hobbies as well as your DJing? Or does that take up most of your time?
Producing and especially djing with all its traveling is really time consuming so there isn’t really a lot of time for other hobbies. Music is our greatest hobby and we’re lucky guys to have made our biggest hobby our profession!

If you had some kind of super power then what would it be?
Our super power would be to turn into "Mr. Spock", so he could beam us all over the world without spending hours on planes!

Finally…. Thankyou for your time…. We look forward to welcoming you back to Passion V Storm on May 24th with open arms…… Genix
