This article is about STORM 200 @ The Emporium in Coalville in Leicester (UK), Fri 04 Sep
1. We have all grown to know and love you as the tidy djs but this is changing please tell us about this…
Yes, we have decided to move away from the Tidy DJs name and go back to ‘Sam & Deano’. Nothing else has changed apart from the name – we still represent tidy and play the same music we have always done, we just felt the time was right to try and expand our careers. We where also getting a bit tired of people thinking we where the tidy Boys, lol!
2. You both still work as well as your dj careers what do you both do?
Sam – I’m Head of Music for tidy Deano – I’m a dodgy electrician and a part time pimp
3. Do you both like your full time jobs and would you consider jacking them in to concentrate on DJ’ing full time?
Sam – I Love my job and wouldn’t leave just to DJ. My job is very heavily connected to my DJ career so it kind of runs hand in hand with it anyway!
Deano – Yup, I do like being a sparky but one day I will have to quit to pursue the music. I have far too many Fridays and Mondays off work!! My pimping career is just a part time thing at the moment so I can easily fit my hoe’s in around my music.
4. Your both venturing into different genre’s of music ie fidget House, is this something you both enjoy and want to pursue as well?M
We both love all styles of music and just enjoy playing out to people and making people Dance! The Fidget House stuff isn’t too far away from what we play at Hard Dance clubs anyway (we often play some House stuff sped up!) so its just another feather in the cap for us to be able to play this genre.
5. What’s on the horizon on the production tip for you 2 and anyone exciting you’re working with?
We seem to always be busy in the studio at the moment which is no bad thing! We have just finished a brand new track with BK called ‘Switch!’ that we are really excited about, it’s a great cross of both ours and BKs styles and has been getting some really good reaction when we have been playing it out! It is released through tidy in September.
We are also busy working on our brand new live show concept to be launched later this year – this is going to be massive and something very different for the Hard Dance scene too! We are also working on a brand new Hard Dance Mash Up mix with BK & Andy Whitby to be released through iTunes later this year so watch out for more info on that very soon!
6. Your playing at storm the 200th event and the fastest selling storm event so far what does this mean to you to play at such a prestigious event?
It means the world to us and we count ourselves very lucky to be included on the premier Hard Dance events that get put on. To be playing alongside names and DJs you respect and have looked up to over the years is a great honor! Storm is one of the best promotions around and Jimmy Dean has got great shoes!!!
7. What are both of your ambitions and goals and where do you see yourself in say 5 years?
Both of our ambition and goal in life is to have as much fun as possible and to look back at the end of it all and have no regrets – life is short and you need to enjoy it! In 5 years time who knows where we will be, hopefully still doing what we love and helping people have a great night out!
Many Thanks for talking to us and see you at Storm 200 on Friday 4th September.
Vince Robertson on behalf of Storm.
