It wasn't Hed Kandi :(
I attended the previous months Hed Kandi Twisted Disco night at Society and it was a completely different party.

Once there, we found that the usual Hed Kandi trinckets and dressings hanging from the ceiling were nowhere to be seen which is what makes these nights a bit special. The usual glitz and glam of the venues and the people frequenting give it that excitable edge.

I asked 2 bar staff whether it was in fact a Kandi night but they had no idea. I then saw Pav (on percussion) who true to form was awesome and gave the crowd a needed lift. When i spoke to him he said that Hed Kandi was on somewhere else and that this was some kind of Non Hed Kandi Ibiza Party night thingy. He didn't seem too sure what was going on...

So anyway, having got there and establishing that it wasn't in fact Hed Kandi i thought i'd quit wasting time and start enjoying myself. The music was good; very similar to the twisted Disco set i had seen the month previous. There seemed to be a lapse of concentration from the light technician as the place was bright until about 12.30. After these were switched off the place started to fire up a little. The dancers that they had on the centre stage definitely helped lift the spirit of the place!!

Oh ye, have to apologise for the photo's, these were the only ones remotely OK for putting on the site. My digital camera didn't like the smoke so i'll have to look into investing before i do anymore spotting. Still; a few photo's are better than none :)

All in all it was a pretty good night; nice mix of people, not too full but not too empty, quality house beats and a whole lotta dancin!...But not Hed Kandi :(

As one of the DJ's who has been to Society not once but twice, and who thoroughly enjoyed it both times - as have all our DJs that have been there, not to mention Pav and Laura our musicians - i can tell you that you are absolutely 100% wrong when you claim hed Kandi don't want to be in Liverpool. It's a city we tried to get to for over two years before we went to Society - our problem is always the same wherever we go - we have to find the right combination of venue and promoter to be involved with. Our London parties are bigger as we can find a selection of big venues in London, and have bigger crowds attend them. The only venue of a comparable size in Liverpool is Nation and we don't think that is the right place for us to be. It's striking the balance between the size of the venue and the feel/appearance and set-up of the venue too. It's got to be right on all fronts. If you feel there is a venue in liverpool that is right for us, then it's dead simple: just let us know. But please don't accuse us of things that simply are NOT true.

bear in mind, Kubik, that WE don't set the door prices at venues - we charge a fee to the club and they then set the door accordingly.
