First off, for anyone who hasn't heard of you, can you explain who you are and what you do in a nutshell?

Obviously we couldn't find a big enough nut shell to explain everything we do and fit it all in. We are The Minx FX, an event stylist company or as we like to call it, 'Party Pimpers' specialising in promotion, production and performance. We create visual concepts and themes to give events an individual tailor-made image. From flyer design to visuals, photographers to video-ographers we can cover and co-ordinate every angle to complete the look. We are mainly known for and express our creativity through our costume and make up design, parades, extreme shows and artistic performances that always step away from the norm. We even provide fancy dress and face painting stalls to enable guests to become a part of the experience. So wherever you see our name, always, 'Expect The Unexpected..'

How did you get started and who was the original instigator?

The Minx FX was born 4 years ago and it was a concept created to add another dimension to the clubbing world. I am Miss Disco, aka Burnley Joe, the original instigator as you put it. I've worked in the fashion and clubbing industry for over 10 years and having a strong passion for art, I started my career as a hair designer trained by Vidal Sassoons. I soon found a love for the fashion shows, competitions and avant-garde styles, whilst at the same time my affair with night life and performance was growing stronger by the weekends. Then 8 years ago I landed on a little paradise island called IBIZA. I was inspired by the art of performance and became a dancer and stylist for most of the big name club nights which is where it all began. As years passed some people seemed to forget about the impact good performance can add to an event and turned to the cheaper alternative of pretty girls. I could see the performance fading away and as my life was becoming too hectic to juggle all of my passions, I decided to combine all my skills and give them back to the island and lifestyle I fell in love with, thus creating THE MINX FX.

What's been the ultimate gig you've performed at?

The ultimate gig would have to be our weekly party at Gala Night in Ibiza soon to be going into its 3rd season. It's called The Zoo Project and is an amazing daytime party set in a beautiful outdoor venue, and it truly shows off the real spirit of Ibiza. Our mission was to bring the abandoned zoo back to life! Giving the original feel of shows in the seal pit and turning the venue into an animalistic playground which the crowd could really become a part of. Our exotic tribal shows full of colourful energy, along with our interactive animal performers and face painting stalls helped to create an individual and new experience! We achieved more than we'd have hoped when the animal antics caught on. and last year the whole of Ibiza caught jungle fever. every Saturday, San Antonio would be teeming with party animals, each one setting out on an adventure to the hills of Benimussa.

Your costumes are amazing, where do you get them from and who comes up with the design ideas?

Well thank you, I'm glad you like them. As Creative Director I'll be honest, I'm a perfectionist so I tend to make a lot of the costumes myself if I can't find what I'm looking for. I have been collecting costumes and
accessories since I started as a dancer so I can always create something unusual and unique. It has gotten to the point where we need extra hands now as my ideas can work faster than my hands, so when I'm not roping Production Manager Mogli into it all, I do have a team of hair and make-up artists, costume designers and stylists that I can call upon to help me for the bigger productions.

Have you ever had any major disasters when performing?

No real disasters, nothing that we couldn't handle anyway, but when you play with fire you can expect to get burned! Haha, but we assure you, with every gig we are very safe and follow the necessary health and safety rules. Actually, one time. three years ago, we performed at a water party and unfortunately the main podium started to get wet due to a leak! One of our beloved dancers slipped through the bars and off the podium, which unfortunately happened to be suspended 12 foot high in the air! Luckily for her, she landed on some raving clubbers on the dance floor beneath! The club went silent and she was stretchered out to the back rooms! After the longest 10 minutes of our lives we were given the ok and everyone cheered! She was fine but it took me about a week to recover from the shock!

At the moment you perform mainly in the UK and Ibiza, do you have any plans to take the group global?

Of course we do, there's a wonderful world out there. We are just biding our time, growing as a group and getting the brand out there. We've made a lot of contacts in the last few years so who knows what's round the corner. If any worldwide promoters are reading then feel free to get in touch..

Where would be a dream gig for you?

We would like to venture into all the festivals, Glastonbury and Miami Music Conference would be amazing! Hmmmmmm wouldn't it be wicked to take over Disney Land for a day? Haha

What's the craziest thing a client has requested you to do in a show?

We're usually the ones that request to do something crazy!!!

You're performing at the upcoming Zoo Project and mUmU party in Liverpool, what do you have in store for the crowd??

Well that would be telling now wouldn't it, but as with any Minx FX event, expect the unexpected! You can be sure of tribal madness with a carnival twist and as always an array of exotic performance. This is very exciting for us as it will be the first Zoo Project in the UK that has the full Minx FX production behind it and will also be a chance for people to get a glimpse of what we will be doing in Ibiza!

What madness is lined up for you in Ibiza this season? Any plans to put on your own Minx FX parties?

Oh we have a few surprises in store. We will be very busy this season with The Zoo Project as plans are underway to make it bigger and better than ever! We also have a new weekly venture on a Wednesday called Channel Zoo also at Gala Night in Ibiza, so a lot of our time will be taken up with the preparation, organisation and running of these two weekly parties. Last year we test ran and launched our own 'Bring Back Da Banta' parties, themed events focusing on original concepts which stepped away from the clubbing norm. We brought a new experience to the guests as they got fully involved and became a part of the entertainment. Keeping it fresh, the DJ's can experiment with samples to fit around a specific theme making each party different. We changed locations with each event bringing a fresh edge to daytime parties and of course, fancy dress was a must! It's not every day you see Danger Mouse on the decks! And our 'Getting Wiggy Wiv It' event went down so well, it spawned about 3 copycat parties through the winter in the UK! Look out for more 'Bring Back Da Banta' parties this summer!
