Funkadelic vs Superfly
October's Funkadelic saw a tag-team event between ourselves and Superfly, with resident DJ's from each night playing excellent sets of the finest house and breakbeat that Liverpool has to offer! And with Chibuku hosting a large event at Nation with a line up of stellar acts, there was a very healthy turnout in show of support for these two smaller, underground nights.

Steve Brown and General Jimmy kicked things off at the Revolution pre-party on Wood Street, and this served as only a taster of what was to come for the main event at Barfly's best room, the Bar!! There is no atmosphere quite like that room when its rocking, and it brings back memories of the Annexe at Cream (to this nostalgic raver anyway!!)

Kicking things off at the Barfly, Discoff laid down a set of bouncing electro-tinged house, proving why Browny was so quick to offer him a residency at Funkadelic. This was only something like Jack's 7th gig playing out, and boy does this guy have some talent!! Look out for a Discoff mix CD being handed out very soon at a future Funkadelic!!

Ben Proudlove of Superfly was next up on the tables, and as more and more people poured through the doors Ben dropped some firing breakbeat, including Adam Freeland's "Heel & Toe" (Evil 9 remix) amongst others!!

Next it was me, with a slightly more fired up than usual house set, including James Talk's "Love That Acid" and Depeche Mode "Something To Do" (Black Strobe Mix) which went down an absolute treat!!

Stew Macleod then stepped up and, for me, played the set of the night - bustin' some serious skills on the dekcs and lettin rip with some cool as custard scratching!! Nice!!

Finally, Steve Brown and Dash went back to back, in what is always an eagerly anticipated encounter between two of Liverpool's best breaks DJ's. Top tuneage during this set included one of Browny's favourites "Elevate", Dash dropping Prodigy's "Outter Space" and the amazing finale that was Jose Gonzalez's "Crosses" - what a tune!!

Can't wait for the next installment in November when we welcome back Mr Paul Nolan to the decks alongside myself, Discoff and, of course, Steve Brown.

Look out for details of the Funkadelic New Years Eve bash at Hannah's Bar coming soon to a DontStayIn near you!!
