House, Breakbeat, Catfaces!!
I'm a bit late with this review, which is unlike me, but i think i've pretty much only just recovered from what has to go down as one of the best Funkadelics yet...

Despite a bad start to the night with the unforseen end of our pre-parties at Revolution (a new venue will be finalised soon so watch this space), and Jock having food poisoning and therefore leaving us a man down on the door, this was one crazy, awesome party!

Kicking things off for us musically at the Barfly, then, we had Martin Taylor from Arrogance, and the Ministry of Sound (Singapore) resident didn't disappoint, with a set of quirky house tuneage that really got the party started!

Next up it was Funkadelic residents Steve Brown and Discoff playing a back 2 back set under their Damaged Gudz guise. Unfortunately i had to man the door for most of their set but what i did hear was brilliant, and the lads warmed the crowd into a frenzy before our headliner, Cler "the Rabbit Catcher" Lever, took to the 'tables...

By this point in the night there were several people (myself included) wandering around the club with our faces painted like cats?!?! There were two guys wearing bin-bags jumping round like chimps in the toilets. There was rumours of a talking poster in the ladies toilets but we're not sure exactly how mashed these people were... and the Barfly was absolutely rammed!!

As for our headliner then: well, lets just say Cler proved just why i wanted to get her on at Funkadelic so badly, as she tore strips out of the Barfly with a trademark "Rabbit Catcher" excursion through tech-house that had the dancefloor packed right until the end, when there were raptuous cries of "one more tune" echoing through the Bar!! Dropping a few of her own tunes including the excellent Rabbit Donor (a remix of DJ Shadows Organ Donor), this set has had people talking for weeks! Check out Cler's MySpace and listen to her tunes yourself...

Highlights of the night for me: having my face painted like a cat; Cler dropping Rabbit Donor; free pizza off the doormen; and chasing pigeons round Sefton Park at 8.30am on a Sunday?!?!?!?!?! Priceless!!

Can't wait for the next one!!! :-)
