After being named one of the best fashion trends this summer in polls conducted at 02 wireless and Zoo in the park, NY-LON follows up with their very first party at the newly refurbished 54 commercial street.
Working with some of the most underground agents in London, NY-LON have secured an amazing line up of DJs from the cream of the underground dance scene with Justin Drake (Peace Division), Djuma Soundsytem (Get Physical), Amelie thats the new collaboration with Sophie Oliver and Claudia Lovissa (Super Nature), Dave Irvine (Prehab), Geppy (Electro Boat Party), Mr Pixeldot (Unit 7) & Ronie B (Church)
For those that have no idea what NY-LON is this is your exclusive chance to get involved, think uv fitted dance floors combined with sexy fluoro neon outfits for boys and girls and you might get the picture!!!
JUSTIN
Justin Drake is undoubtedly one of the most consistent contributors to house music for over ten years. Whether it be via his productions alongside Clive Henry as Peace Division, his audio engineering or his near constant DJ schedule, Drake has had nothing but success when it comes to the 4:4 beat.
Most recently, tracks and remixes for Crosstown Rebels, NRK, Tsuba, Kerri Chandler and Audio Soul Project have won plaudits from everyone from Ricardo Villalobos and Damian Lazarus to Sebo K and Dinky, but DJ support is no novelty to Drake.
Born and raised in the leafy suburbs of London, Justin amused himself by emersing himself in the developing uk house music scene and, in particular the M25 "Orbital" rave scene. A fascination with electronics quickly developed into audio engineering which in turn led to releases on the now seminal Junior Boys Own and Sabres of Paradise labels.
Peace Division followed and over the past ten years it has become one of the most bankable yet forward thinking production teams in the business. Never dwelling on fads, but always proving quality house music Peace Division is often referred to as one of the greats despite self-deprecating protests from the duo themselves.
A DJ with an overused passport, Drake has a taste for the warm, heady and hypnotic grooves which have won him a dedicated following the world over despite preferring to stay out of the limelight and "just get on with it". That ethos has seen him maintain a constant focus on underground music without being influenced by trends. This has led to respect from peers, promoters and punters worldwide.
Peace division have their first essential mix out in august on Saturday the 30th of August, that ties in perfectly with our NY-LON night.
Amazingly NY-LON coincides with the peace division mix compliation released in august on nrk one of the best out there, We at NY-LON highly reccomend you go out and buy a copy its well worth having in your collection and will prove an instant success in cars and at house parties. We have attached the press release for Peace Division Coast 2 coast dispersion compilation mix out on nrk at the bottom of this mail-out. They also have a release in september on 8 bit records that will no doubt feature as part of the NY-LON entertainment for the night.
AMELIE
Sophie Oliver & Claudia Lovisa (AMELIE) were brought together through a shared passion for music, Sophie & Claudia are proving to be two of the most innovative DJ’s who form part of London’s Underground House and Techno scene. Gaining accolades from some of the industries most credible DJ’s and producers they are being watched very closely by their piers and are seriously tipped for great things to come. Now signed to Audiofly’s Supernature Label with a number of tracks already completed and collaborations with Audiofly and Peace Division’s Justin Drake.
Their much anticipated move into production is soon to be unveiled, with their first release due on Supernature this summer 2008. Sophie Oliver & Claudia Lovisa host Audiofly's label show, Supernature monthly on Proton. From laid back grooves to rolling Techno and everything in-between, with label artists and special guests on rotation. The following link will get you to proton radio!
DJUMA SOUNDSYSTEM
we are very excited to welcome Get Physical's Djuma Soundsystem! These Danish producers/dj’s have agreed to play a special set to get the party started. These guys are repeatedly number one in the beatport charts and any of you who were lucky enough to catch their set at Krankenhaus last march will know what to expect! We couldn't wish for better guests to provide the upfront sounds to our fun-loving crowd of party NY-LON friends!
DAVE IRVINE
This party would not be complete without one of our good friends from Prehab Mr Dave Irvine, starting back in 2000 rising from bedroom DJ to highely acclaimed resident and promoter of one of the countries best up and coming promotions 'Prehab'. Making the industry stand up and take notice with his self described 'Fresh Funky' sound which has rocked the UK and europe in recent times and keeps on making the masses notice. He is Driven, enthusiastic and always up for a party, Dave Irvine is one of the most exciting DJs bursting on to the London scene right now. His unique sound blends the cream of European techno with edges of electro house and the more upbeat minimal offerings but whatever he's playing he never fails to rock a crowd. Dave Irvine has proved to be an incredibly popular resident for Prehab at The Gallery, Turnmills providing killer sets and attracting a loyal and dedicated crowd that djs dream of. One to seriously watch the rise to the top for this man is a happening.
To top this all off there will be NY-LON give aways on the night. And you know the best bit already, yes its a 12 hour dance-off as the party starts from 9pm and goes on until 9am, yes thats right a full on twelve hour rave off to some of the best underground house music DJs, what a NY-LON Launch!!!
