This article is about 54 in London (UK)
Fridays | JULY | Bar 54 10pm – 6am 54 Commercial Street London E1
£10
www.bar54.co.uk
After four years of underground parties in our country's capital, Bar 54 is now not only a hotbed of clubbing activity, but a double edged record label with a concept as sharp as it's club bookings.
Tech house forefathers like 'Evil' Eddie Richards, solid 4/4 acts like Soy Mustafa and Italo-bent minimalists like Dandi & Ugo have all had the 54 basement in the palm of their hands in the past few months, and their disparate sounds are to be reflected in 54s new record releasing arm, 54 Music. The two sides of the label ('Light'- nu jazz, deep house, eclectic - and 'Dark' - techno, minimal, tech house) will be showcased at 54 nights, inject a little freshness into the London circuit in the process.
On top of that, the beloved red basement is also set to host an even more highly tuned selection of DJs each Friday night from June onwards.
Having built a solid reputation and following years of credible bookings, the time has come for 54 to push on. And so the time has come for you to join in and allow them to nurse you through a whole new realm of avant-garde electronic sounds.
3 July... DIGITAL DISCO MARK BROOM DANIEL (CRECA TROVA) LEE RANDS (MUMU) DAVID ELKABAS (MN2S) GARETH WYLD (54)
Having worked with world renowned labels such as Mo-Wax, Warp, Soma, Bpitch Control and more recently 2020 Vision, Brit Mark Broom has been DJing for over 17 years. In the past he’s reworked Steve Rachmad, and has played everywhere from London’s Fabric to Belgium’s Fuse, whilst also recently appearing on Nic Fanciullli’s Global Underground mix CD. Liverpool’s freshest party mUmU send their Lee Rands down tonight, too, and he’ll be bringing with him his bag of funky dark minimal.

10 July... TEMPER TEMPER REBEKAH GARETH WYLD (TEMPER) MARGO FIRELLI (DON'T TECHNO SH!T) ANDERSON (TECHNO COALITION) CHRIS PEINADO (TEMPER)
Influenced by techno luminaries like Hawtin, Beyer and May, and with her productions getting spun by Lawler, Ananda and Yousef, it’s no wonder Rebekah has rocked dance floors all over the globe from Exit festival in Serbia, to Sven’s Cocoon Club in Germany. Getting her bounce from Chicago and her soul from Motown, a house and techno blend Rebekah set is rich and emotive, moving and fresh.

17 July... WE DANCE JON GURD (KILLAWATT) ANDY BONE (LOST SOULS) DANNY RAPER (KETOLOCO) NICE GUY EDDIE (NICE MUSIC) DAN BROSNAN
Jon Gurd’s house and techno has won him fans all over the UK, as well as gigs at Maidestone’s tech house night Cubism, and Brighton’s Audio. Citing deep and loopy house men Sascha Dive and Johnny D as inspirations should give you an idea of what to expect at We Dance tonight. Also on is Ketoloco founder and un-hinged house fan, Danny Raper.

24 July.... TRACK ONE RAUDIVE FOOLISH HORSE LUI SEAN V
Assaulting the basement this eve is Raudive, aka Brit Oliver Ho, who’s as known for his tribal take on tech, as he is his abstract and clicky soundscapes, and who has released on Steve Bug’s Pokerflat and excellent Berlin techno label, Clang. Intelligent techno fused with house funk and skewed into dance floor bombs...what’s not to like from the man who released the 12” minimal monster, ‘Cone,’ on Macro a few months ago. Foolish Horse also play, fresh from a percussion flecked and deep 4/4 remix for 54’s record label, 54 Music.
