So lets get this interview started, so how long have you both been DJing, and what styles?

Uplift is the old grandpa here so I will let him answer this one first

Oi there is still plenty of life in this one yet! Besides Flashback is older than me ;) Seriously, though I started DJing in 1996, and have always played upfront hardcore, with the occasional old skool set. Been mixing since the early nineties so have a big collection of vinyl, which I love to dust off from time to time.

Ur telling me its big! its in about 3 different houses and takes up our hall wall Uplift!

Ive been mixing just over 2 years now, I'm really into my Upfront hardcore mashing a bit of UK / Aussie and north American Hardcore sounds into my sets for something different.

If you could pick one time in your dj career's that stands out in your minds, what would it be?

I have so many great moments but probly my most enjoyable moment would be Playing in Québec, Canada with Uplift on my 26th birthday last October at a party called ‘Blacklight 3’ in front of over a room of 1000 ravers where everyone was dressed in Halloween Costumes. I’ve never seen ravers go off as much as these guys did and everyone kept speaking to me in French and getting me to sign things and body parts!

Can I have two? Both for very different reasons. Firstly, playing to 3000 ravers at Slammin Vinyl in 2003, was pretty much the highlight of my career, music wise. Stepping up to those decks to see a sea of people in front of you, is what it’s all about. From a personal point of view, I’ll never forget when Scar surprised me by coming back to the UK from Australia a week early on my birthday at Raindance. Right at the start of my set, Sharkey told me to wind down my first tune, and then announced that Scar had returned. I had tears in my eyes, I was proper choked!

Tears in ur eyes? More like crying on stage and there's a video footage of that! ha ha

For some of the people that don't no, what is Raw Elements?

Ok. Raw Elements is an underground hardcore label which started in 2001 at a time when there weren’t much hardcore vinyl being put onto the shelves. We have always tried to maintain an ethos of uplifting, yet tough sounding hardcore, and have tried to use the original elements of hardcore wherever we can. We are about to put out our 21st release, and have a big release schedule set for this year. Check out www.rawelements.net  for more info!

Dont u guys read my spamming on all the hardcore websites? lol goosh! Def have a browse onto your website anyway there's everything from vinyl and mp3 sales, event flyers, mixes and just random stuff on there

Your both booked to play at the next K2 Sessions, what do you think of invite only, secret location events?

I think its awesome! Keeping that underground feeling alive and strong. Im very fond of the K2 Session parties already and really excited to playing at the next one. Everyone who attends know each other and are so friendly, the vibe is really cool.

Great idea for those whom are invited and in the know! ;)

Is there anything different coming from you two this year? any new release's?

Yeah got a load off stuff coming out in the next few months. Next release which is due out 31st March are remixes of the massive track Tukan – Light A Rainbow, then followed in April/May by an EP by myself and Scar, then another EP by Scar & Clodhopper. Definitely a busy time!

We have both been really busy in the studio the past few months and got a lot more lined up as well then that and a couple of pieces in the making as we speak, Keep and ear out anyway

This question will go down well, So who's the best DJ between you to :)

I’d say Uplift only coz of the saying ‘’older means experience’’ lol he's a lot older then me

Haha, I don’t know whether to take that as a compliment or not Scar! I’m gonna be diplomatic and say that I think we have both got some good qualities, and that we have both taught each other something about DJing to a crowd. That’s what we’re such a great team! lol

Yep High Five!

K2 would just like to thank you both for taking the time to fill out our interview. But we have one more question to ask. What came first the chicken or the egg?

Hmmm don’t really matter as long as they both are cooked up nicely then im happy. Uplift does a mean Fry up heehee

Neither. They both appeared at the same time on alien spacecraft.

Thank you for your time DJ Scar + Uplift, cant wait for your set at the next K2.
