So how did it all begin?

Well some say God but some say the big bang oh….you mean dj’ing? I suppose there was a bit of a fad for it in the mid 90s, me and all my mates wanted decks, got decks and some of us gave it up and moved on to the next fad whereas others like myself continued

Where did the name come from?

I was DJ’ing at a party in Woking under the name DJ Fly-by but on the night a bunch of girls who me and my mc knew started calling me “Bustin Justin” i quite quickly dropped the Justin part and now its just Bustin, even my mum calls me Bustin

Who’s throwing the best parties at the moment?

hahaha I think The K2 atmosphere is the best that i have experienced for sometime, I also think BangFace events are pretty special

What was your first record you bought?

Europe – the final countdown…..i was 7

Out of all the tunes you have, which one ‘never fails?’

Truffle Shuffle by me. I’m not saying that because its mine but I’ve played it at loads of different types of events and it seems to just grab people. Luna-C describes it on the kniteforce website as “transcending genre” I’m not sure i’d go that far but it seems to go down well whether its in a jungle rave, a hardcore night or an old skool rave

What's you favourite tune of all time?

I was having a debate about this in the pub the other day, myself and MC organz found it impossible to pick one tune so we ended up picking a top ten but rather than bore you with that i’ll give you one off my top ten…..er….trip to the moon 3 (kaleidoscopiclimax)

How big is your vinyl collection? What do you think of CDJ's?

Several thousand records and tons of CDs, I think CDs are a necessity for producers as getting dubplates cut is too expensive…however i think that they will fall by the wayside soon as things like “serrato” spread allowing people to use their MP3s like vinyl

Other DJs you rate?

If i here a dj who does something that i want to steal or copy that is normally a dign that i rate them. There are too many big names who don’t really push the technical or creative aspect of dj’ing anyway….

DJ First Rate – British hip hop dj, when you seem him scratch with a turntable balanced on his head,cross fader in his mouth and wearing sooty and a sweep hand puppets, you’ll see why.

DJ SPL – French DnB dj and former DMC champion, takes scratching and beat juggling to a level i’ve never heard in the dance music scene

DJ Luna – C – really inspired me to push on with production and his supaset 4 (luna c FM) is still the best live set i’ve ever heard.

Others i rate include…Andy C, Dave Skywalker, Altern 8, chase and status, Shimon, Slipmatt, Zinc, Darwin

When you play is this pre planned set?

To an extent, I see sets as a whole not as individual tunes and i plan it as a whole thing and not just a mishmash of tunes i think will go down well

If you could stage a rave anywhere, where would you choose?

The Whole London underground network, each station would be run by a different promoter, with trains running to transport you from rave to rave

If you had a time machine what year would you go back to and why?

1955 to see Michael J fox give his rendition of jonny b good at the enchantment under the sea dance
