Rochie’s Alibi
Well, to be honest I wasn't expecting much, I was in the area with my best mate and though well it could be a laugh.

But, I was pleasantly surprised Rochie can mix! (sorry mate, no offence).

Comically the booth looked like something out of a Sci-Fi film but the sound in the venue was actually really good. Although the place was full of suits, there was actually quite a nice Friday night atmosphere. The lighting was quite pleasant, not too dark and not too light, which is nice for those less confident about their dancing ability, I personally found great amusement trying to be under the lights all the time!!! Yes I know I am a show off. It was busy until about midnight, then the crowd gradually dispersed and I think it all ended about 2:30, I was however a but pissed by then so don’t quote me on the finish time. So that’s the atmosphere summed up, the drinks aren’t extortionate and it was free entry.

Musically then, Rochie and Mark Bunn did a sterling job, it was absolutely brilliant, I haven’t danced so much in ages. For those of you that were around in the Canvas days of Formula it was very much that big, uplifting, vocal, funky house. I think I knew the words to 98% of the tunes, it was great. I really loved it. I lost count of the amount of times I said

“I haven’t heard this in ages”
and
“ahhhh I used to love this one”

I love the way the music scene has evolved since the days of big vocal house but I really enjoyed the relaxed party atmosphere that come with a funky house night, the sound is very accessible and good fun.

Rochie did test the suited Smirnoff ice swilling punters with some tame Electro and to be honest it seemed to scare them. So in summary I fully recommend this night, it was a really good laugh. My best mate had such a good night that she ended up going out and buying a house with her boyfriend the next day……no she did, honestly! (not sure it was entirely down to Rochie and Bunny though)

Oh and, but the way, they don’t play R&B or do requests!
