For those of you thatnevver experienced either of these parties back in the early 90's , here's your chance to relive what clubbing was all about...........HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG!!
Flying started life in 1989 on a Monday night at the Queens Club in Colnbrook, Slough, which shows you that all clublife didn't start in central London. However, this particular night did end up there, when it moved to the Soho Theatre club, where residents Brandon Block and Dean Thatcher and promoter Charlie Chester (more recently of DC10 infamy) went on to change the face of clubland forever, by getting DJs from around the country down to London for gigs; like Justin Robertson from Manchester's Most Excellent bash and Stuart McMillan from Glasgow crew Slam, as well as starting off the phenomenon of club tours with the infamous Ibiza90 tour, which took 500 clubbers to a little place called Ibiza for the first time. Channel 4's A Short Film About Chilling captured the unique vibes of that epic adventure perfectly...
Shakavara dates back to 1992, when its founder James Parker celebrated his birthday with a party that quickly surpassed the usual anniversary antics to encompass excellent house music in various secret locations, Renown for its huge dj line ups of the uk's finest dj's from oakenfold, weatherall, sasha, digweed, rampling, emerson, smokin jo to name just a very few...acting as forerunner to the style with which Mulletover etc now do things. Steve Proctor from post-Shoom Fitness Centre party Promised Land was a resident, and they celebrated their first birthday in a warehouse on Curtain Road in Shoreditch - another forerunner of things to come for clubland as a whole, aswell as theatres and other secret london locations
