This article is about epidemik 14th Birthday Party @ AREA in London (UK), Sat 07 Nov
. . . . . Epidemik have been part of the backbone of the rave scene in the area for many years holding many parties in Essex, Suffolk, Cambridge, Northampton etc as well as doing the final spectacular parties at the legendary Oscars on Clacton pier which was well over a decade ago! Working alongside many promoters over the years has been one of the key factors that have helped Epidemik become one of the UK's most successful brands in the music industry. The logo's compiled in this article are from just a handful of people who have worked alongside Epidemik over the years. I apologise for not including everyone but thank you for playing your part in Epidemik's raves over the years gone by. . . . . .
. . . Grant started DJing and running some nights around Essex in pubs, just for mates. He had been clubbing since 1986. Then after the Acid House explosion he started to do promotions work, doing all the hard graft and flyering for organisations like World Dance and Helter Skelter. Here he learnt the ropes before starting flyer packs around 1995. . . .
. . . . . . The main reason Epidemik started was that Grant's local club (Oscars in Clacton) was closing down. He stepped in and took the place over to try and keep a big part of the local rave scene going. After losing his flat, car and all his savings the club had to close, but he kept the parties going come Hell or High Water. It took plenty of overtime to pay his many debts off. From there he has gone on to run events in London, Birmingham, Northampton, Suffolk, and Cambridge. . . . . . .
. . . . . Epidemik has spread to many dance communities both far and wide. The love and support shown by the artists and crew, together with that special bond between all the Epidemik crew is what gives the parties their magical feel. The support and love from Ravers and Clubbers for Epidemik is second to none. . . . . .
. . . .
. . . . . So 14 years on and they are still going strong. Am sure many of you have some wonderful memories of Grants events. One that springs to mind for me was the Old Skool Awards @ Koko back in 2006. Let us not forget that no-one has attempted to do such an event since as it means taking a huge gamble financially and also your creditabilty can take a bit of a knock too as you cant please everybody. Lets also not forget the FREE party at the Ministry of Sound, January 2008. This event was yet another brave decision from a man who obviously likes to put the ravers first and his pocket last. . . . .
