We were all curious about Lizzie's night :)
Friday 30th January wasn’t only pay day for most of us but more importantly, the launch of the fabulous Curiousity Club brought to us by Lizzie Curious.
There is no need of introduction of the multi talented and fun loving lady from Cheltenham, where she is resident at Break Out with partner in crime and life Simon Pisani.

Lizzie is also resident for Electronic Sessions, the London based electro/house and trance promotion which is now famous for its amazing boat parties. She has proved that she is definitely a DJ not to be missed with her energetic sets.

With an ever-growing fanbase, it seemed a natural step for Lizzie to create her own night, The Curiousity Club. The concept is a fusion of filthy, roof-raising house music (the favoured style of Ms Curious), with a Burlesque theme. Not only were people invited to get involved with dressing up, The Curiousity Club also brought some extra Burlesque style entertainment courtesy of The Lollipop Lounge. Some people really made the effort to dress up and affronted the freezing cold! But whether you were dressed up or just dressed to have it on the dancefloor, to have so many like-minded people together really made for a great party.

Lizzie’s idea of fusing Burlesque with house came about through her residency for the traditional Burlesque night The Lollipop Lounge (where she DJ 1950's rock and roll music). She totally fell in love with the costumes and performances and thought it would make for a great club night to try and combine the two! The venue, (a converted crypt), Babalou in Brixton is the perfect venue for this, with its hidden velvet seating, arches and Moroccan lighting...plus of course a great sound system for the tunes.

Burlesque artiste Alaska Blue was roaming the floor handing out sweets and teaching people some Burlesque inspired dance moves, whilst close contact magician Adam Keisner was twisting people's minds with magic tricks!

I arrived fairly early; the night was just starting with Simon Pisani playing B2B Joe Doyle warming the crowd up. Seb Rumore followed on as everyone was sipping cocktails and starting to venture onto the dancefloor to through some shapes. Even though it was early the club seemed to be busy and there was a buzz in the air as I kept bumping into several friendly faces and of course the faithful Curiousity team.

As the time flew by, the club started to fill up and the music got dirtier. Jack Michaels from Grin recordings stepped in at 11.45pm to deliver a great set. By 1am, the temperature was seriously rising when the star quality Lizzie went on the decks providing as always a fantastic set to a massively packed dancefloor.

Relaying her at 2.15am, Nick Fisher, from Swindon’s number one dance night Elektrophonik (who is also known for being a phenomenal percussionist) provided an amazing set, which to my opinion, was the highlight of the night!

Finally at 3.15am, platinum bombshell Laura Brown closed this amazing night which really flew by. Was nearly with tears when it was time to leave the dancefloor - but we all went home with a big smile on our faces as it was certainly one the best nights we’ve had so far this year in snowy London.

For the unlucky people who couldn’t attend, make sure you keep Friday 27th March free as it will be the next Curiousity Club and no doubt that Lizzie will have a lot of surprises planned to make the night even more special!
