Trevor, can you give us a 30 second introduction to the man behind the name….1…2..3….GO!
I spent my teenage years as a b.boy painting graffiti and listening to hip hop and early electro, in my mid 20’s I got switched on to the us house sound after hearing a mix tape by Rob Mello, got some equipment together and started having a go myself, released various e,p’s on house of 909 in the late 90’s hooked up with jesse rose and dave taylor after moving to London and continued to look for the perfect beat, and here I still am…..oh and I quite like the occasional pint of larger.
Your music style and selection has varied over the years, where would you put yourself now in the genre palette?
Forward thinking house music incorporating anything that sounds good to me,I don’t like being put in genre’s as I think mentally and creatively you can become stuck in them.
Who would you name as your main influences, musically?
Ohh That’s a tuff one, there has been so many artist that have influenced me,from my teenage years up to now, producers like Marly Marl,Stetsasonic,Arthur baker,Russel Brothers,Schooly d,The jb’s,Kool and the Gang, mizell brothers,Blaze,MAW,Derick May,Ron Trent,Carl Craig,Marshall Jefferson,Basement Jaxx, the list is endless as im constantly hearing music that inspires and influences me.
From one of your first releases ‘Soul Motive’ on Blue Basque, back in 1996, we have heard some pretty stonking tunes from you. Your tunes are smashing there way through the nations speakers and you don’t seem to be slowing up. What can we expect of you in 2008?
I have my solo e.p’s coming on Speaker Junk records that we have just started up again, an album collaboration with Herve, Sinden, Affie, Duke Dumont and Switch, along with remixes and an album project with Affie, so quite a busy year ahead.
You have recently teamed up with Hervé to create Speaker Junk. How is this going, and what are the future plans for you guys?
Well now we have decided to get the label up and running we are planning to get some more Speaker Junk releases out along with any remixes that come our way.
What would you rate as the best experience that you’ve had in the music scene so far?
Playing Bestival with Josh as Speaker Junk was a wicked laugh, also playing New York for the first time, coming back to London and getting a lift with Arthur Baker to play at his back to New York night in my Home Town, felt pretty surreal at the time.
When playing out, do you have a set guide, or do you just take a selection and play to the crowd?
I usually have a rough Idea of what I want to play then just see how the crowd is when I get there.
Which do you prefer playing; small intimate venue, or huge arena?
I always prefer the smaller intimate venues when your on the same level as the crowd, just feels like you have more of a connection with the people, never been a fan of glitzy clubs,
More into the red light smoke machine and a basement, having said that now the smoking ban is here the small clubs smell a lot worse…

What would you rate as your top 3 all times favourite tunes?
That is always such a difficult one to answer because after you answer it ten minutes later your whole list has changed….. but I’ll have a go.
Ramellzee and K Rob - B bop
Jonny Hammond - Tell me what to do
M K - Somebody new
Actually No, Inner City GoodLife, 808 state pacific state and…..you see what I mean!
And what album is currently rocking your speakerbox at home?
I have actually been checking Josh(Herve’s) young lovers album coming out on lounging, it’s a real nice listening album, and also a lot of the old ultimate Breaks albums for samples.
Do you have any special tracks that you like to finish a set with?
Not Really, I was ending with Organ Grinder for a While, but no depends on the night.
Is there any new talent that you would recommend to watch out for this year?
Yeah 'Det Boi' from Dublin is coming through, also 'Heavy Feet' from Manchester, 'Duke Dumont' and 'Fake Blood' is Dope!
And finally….How would you rate yourself in the sack out of 10
Well when I did the sack race on our school sports day back when I was 13 I think I came about 3rd But I was small and the sack was big……….oh sorry you mean “THAT SACK” My girl friend says 11 but she probably want some new shoes or something.
