So Who Are Resonate?

This article is about Frantic Presents HHA The 9th Birthday @ Brixton Academy in London (UK), Sat 17 Oct

Resonate has been championing the European sounds of Hard Trance, Hardstyle & Techno throughout the south of the UK for 6 years.

Teaming up with the likes of Slinky, Destiny, Antiworld, Slammin’ Vinyl and Atmosphere from prestigious venues like the Old Firestation and Opera House Bournemouth to hosting stages at Matterly Bowl for the legendary Sanctuary Festival and more recently the South Coasts newest addition, Southern Sound Festival!

Making their Frantic debut on Saturday 17th October at the Biggest Hard Dance Show in the World!

Resonate will be hosting the Euro Zone at the colossal Hard House Academy 9th Birthday!

For an insight into one of the leading UKs European brand check the interview out below from Resonate promoter Stuart Jackson!

1) When did Resonate start?

5th September 2003 was our first event, at a club called Passion in Bournemouth. We then had a brief stint at Club Destiny for about a year before moving to The Old Firestation, which was our home for 3 years. Since our last event there we’ve hosted arenas for Slammin’ Vinyl, Global Meltdown, Fusion, Overload The Fort and, in September, Southern Sound Festival, then of course the mighty Frantic!

2) What other Clubs inspired you to start?

Well sadly they’ve both shut down or changed ownership now but The Country Club & Bagleys

3) Who have been your most successful guests at the event?

The Organ Donors & Mark EG have always been our crowd favourites, whenever we’ve got a lineup with these guys on it’s a great atmosphere and a packed out club. For the Donors it’s their home town so it means a lot to not have to jump on a flight and be gracing the decks so close to home and getting that vibe from fellow Bournemouth residents. Then there’s Mark EG, nobody has done so much for dance music than this guy and he’s such an unsung hero but has a massive cult following and has done it all through his performance and not an online PR machine ;-) Respect!

4) Tell us a little bit more about your residents

Well the residents consist of Iain Cross and myself (SL-DJ). Iain Cross is a south west legend with a loyal following and residencies at all the major clubs. His debut release “G.O.D” on his own label “Audio:Tech” at the beginning of the year has reached anthem status and he has a forthcoming vinyl release on Germantrance Records which is already making waves with plays from Lisa Lashes & Mark EG and it features on the forthcoming GG Xtra Hard compilation (Lashes Mix) and Ministry of Sound Australia.

5) You also run a successful DJ Agency. Who is on your books?

Yeah A&E Management (can I plug it? aemanagement.co.uk lol) I’m happy to say I have the pleasure of looking after A*S*Y*S, Neal Thomas, Iain Cross, Wragg & Log:One, Uberdruck, Tommy Pulse, FJ Project and Sam Punk. As well as managing these guys the agency manages Audio Surgery Records (The Organ Donors brand new label, Launching Sep 14th) and various other projects. My two most recent signings are Neal Thomas and Wragg & Log:One, we’re going to be seeing big things from these guys before the year is out so I’m very happy about that!

6) What does a typical day involve?

99% of the time I think involves me working on my MacBook and talking on my mobile haha. Sounds boring to some but I’m doing what I love so it’s all good. The good thing is every day brings something different. Fridays I’ll be down the studio going through new tracks for the weekend, that’s the best part of what I do!

7) Have you ever been to HHA?

Yeah! It’s awesome! One of the highlights of my clubbing calendar! Not to be missed!

8) You are involved in a big festival in September. Pls tell us about all the exciting plans for this big event.

Well this is something really special for us south coasters to have such a huge yet intimate event on our doorsteps, all the brands involved have really pulled all the stops out and festival organisers “get yr kix” have some great things in store in terms of production and attractions visit southernsoundfestival.co.uk for more info.

9) Does Resonate have a home or do you move venues?

We’ve had many homes which have changed as we’ve grown. The longest we’ve stayed somewhere is 3 years and that was the Old Firestation.

10) What else have you planned for Resonate for 2009?

Well the last time I was interviewed for Resonate I said we’d be taking some time out, doing some tours and coming back to Bournemouth with something big which has been the Southern Sound Festival, we’re also involved in a massive NYE event this year in Bournemouth, there’s a chance for people to win VIP tickets here resonate-uk.com

11) What other dance music do you like? Do you go to any non Hard Dance events?

I’m into everything really, I quite like psy trance, techno and even drum and bass and you’ll definitely catch me rockin to some house and electro. I’m off to see Shpongle at The Round House, London in October too.

12) Describe HHA in 4 words

Very very very BIG!

13) Gordy is buying the drinks, what you having?

JD & Coke please! Double!
