Strawberry Sundae Reunion - Easter Sunday 10pm-6am

This article is about STRAWBERRY SUNDAE REUNION @ Brixton Telegraph in London (UK), Sun 23 Mar 2008

Strawberry Sundae was probably the biggest club night to hit London in years.
From 1994-2002 it was the main event to go to on a Saturday night.
Starting off in a small venue in Drury Lane,

it soon moved to a youth club (now Crash) at Vauxhall.
Within a couple of years the promoter Conan leased the two railway arches next door and transformed it into a super club and called it Cloud 9 (now called the Factory).
They installed a 50k sound system and had the latest in laser technology and lighting.
The queues were long and you had to arrive to join the queue at least an hour before opening at 10pm, to guarantee you got in. The place held nearly 2000 people every week and was always rammed full until it finished at 7am. Even then people were still shouting out for more.
The crowd and the atmosphere was the greatest vibe you could ask for. We were one big happy family and we could do what we wanted once inside the doors. Every week you had the same regular groups standing in the same areas.

Releasing two CD sets and promoting a season at Es Paradis in Ibiza during 1999 Strawberry Sundae was up there at the top with Ministry of Sound and Cream.

Due to the lack of rules inside the club, under age clubbers, good pills, a late bar with the cheapest bar prices in London etc the police did give the promoter Conan a lot of hassle and were often threatening to close the club down.
Strawberry Sundae moved to the Coliseum in Vauxhall and even went north London to the rocket to get away from the police harassment but none of these venues had the same security or vibe that helped make the atmosphere that was created inside Cloud 9.
Cloud 9 was so good even the security were dancing with the clubbers!
Strawberry Sundae moved back to Cloud 9 again around 2001 for about a year before finally being closed down.

Now 6 years later Strawberry Sundae is making a return to South London with a reunion at The Telegraph, Brixton on Easter Sunday. Ten DJ’s in two rooms will be recreating the sound and the vibe that was so unique in club land during the 1990’s and even today.
