Cable continues its buoyant plight to re-invigorate London’s underground scene with another firm boot up its proverbial, proving once more that it’s not all about East London basements and that little old London Bridge is fast becoming the destination for those serious about their raving.

Saturday 18th July sees the club play host to instalment number three of homegrown party, Future Flash, which each month showcases the most colourful and innovative exponents of the disco, house and techno scenes. Word has quickly spread about the party’s native residents come promoters - the dynamic combo of Will Saul, Dave Congreve, Matt Waites and Sean Johnston – and rightly so, as each one has played a lynchpin-like role in making the Smoke's scene one of the most vital around. And for their third social of 2009, the foursome dish up a musically deviant but masterfully thread late-night menu to leave the competition for dust.

Room 1 is headed up by Andrew Weatherall - producer extraordinaire in the truest, most maverick sense of the word, not to mention one of the most versatile DJs this land has ever seen. The man can nail any style with ridiculous aplomb – techno, house, punk, rockabilly, disco – each and everyone he has made his own time and time again. What he’ll be bringing to the table tonight we’re not entirely sure, but we do have a sneaky suspicion this might be one to remember. Second guest Lil Toni may be a relative newcomer to the international DJ circuit, but he’s been heavily involved in underground dance music for over 10 years – promoting nights in his home of Helsinki. If it wasn’t for Toni, the likes of Ame, Juan Atkins, Ricardo Villalobos, J Dilla and Derrick Carter may never have graced the capital. History aside, the Fin is fast becoming one of the most talked about house and techno jocks around; not to mention producers - releasing tracks on label royalty like Innervisions and Versatile.

In room 2 - low-slung funk, kaleidoscopic disco grooves and acid house – rule the roost. First up, we welcome Wilkes and Twitch of ‘Optimo’, who’ve been championing all things… well, everything, for 12 years with their eponymous night, which has become a veritable Glaswegian institution. Their ability to whip up a helplessly addictive cocktail of the most far flung musical styles around always impresses. In very capable support is another Scottish sonic luminary – Graeme Clark AKA The Revenge. Although he’s been in the game for 10 plus years, it’s with his recent string of edits and productions on Jisco Music and Instruments of Rapture that have finally afforded him the limelight he’s long time deserved. Clap your ears on one of his mixes as and you’ll witness his unrivalled knack to twin old and new with frightening ease, while forever emblazoning his bold funk-laden stamp on all and sundry. As much as it pains us to coin the phrase – du jour he most certainly is.

Add to this heady mix our four faithful residents and our totally unique and totally mind-nending Nova soundsystem and it’s shaping up to be a rather special night. So if you like the sound of that lot then break the habit of a lifetime and jump the East London ship – go on, be brave...
