Talk Is Cheap presents...
Inland Knights, Olene Kadar (live) & Lovebirds
residentadvisor.net

After an incredible party at Cable in October with "House Master" MK Marc Kinchen playing B2B with brother/DJ Partner in crime Scottie Deep and a world's first live PA from Alana, we felt it only natural to return to Cable (Time Out's Best Club Venue 2011) for our second instalment to once again showcase some very influential artists within the scene that you don't see billed in London regularly...

After what seems to be a long and probably cold January we return to warm your winter with another special line-up of artists brought in to showcase their sounds on Cable's beefy soundsystem. For those that were lucky enough to have been at the last party with MK, Scottie Deep and Alana you can expect much of the same and for those that didn't here's what you missed: vimeo.com

Inland Knights
____________________________________________________________________________

Inland Knights are Andy Riley and Laurence Ritchie. Dj’s, Producers and label owners of
Drop Music, Borrowed and Raise Recordings.

An extremely highly regarded and respected duo that have been responsible for a number of huge tracks that have destroyed dancefloors across the globe including 'Slummin it', 'Long Time', 'Back Chat' and many many more.... It is very unlikely that you haven't had your head grooving to one of their tracks at some point on a dancefloor somewhere in the world and we are very pleased and honoured to showcase their skills at the next Talk Is Cheap...

Ritchie and Riley hail from Nottingham UK, a city with a rich musical legacy, particularly for House Music. They met in ’93 and cut their teeth Dj’ing for Smokescreen, the renegade sound system from which they drew their early inspiration. Smokescreen consisted of dj’s, lighting people, sound people, a truck, a P.A, a generator and general helpers. Old warehouses, woodland, fields, quarries and houses were utilized with the sole intention of having a good time…. for free! By the mid 90’s smokescreen could guarantee a crowd of hundreds in attendance at their parties, and their club nights became local institutions that ran for years with packed dancefloors, and still do to this day!

By ’98 Laurence and Andy had made the inevitable step into production and the same year the Drop Music label was born with the release of ‘Inland Knights vol 1’. As Inland Knights Riley and Ritchie undertook a busy recording schedule to write tracks for Drop (almost all of the early output was entirely Inland knights, despite many monikers). Drop Music has gone on to become one of the most highly regarded house labels in recent years(with 67 plus releases to date), and Inland Knights have gone on to become one of the most respected production outfits in the house world, regularly taking on remix and Ep duties for fellow labels and producers. Highlights include the acclaimed ‘Mohammed Ali’ remix for Faithless on Cheeky Records, CD compilations and remixes for NRK and Om Records, three Ep's on 2020 Vision, Inland Knights first full length album entitled ‘Creative Spaces’, and more recently, Inland Knights album to mark 10 years of Drop Music entitled ‘Dust till Dawn’, not to mention countless Ep's on other labels over the years.

+ Olene Kadar (LIVE/Mo's Ferry Amsterdam)
____________________________________________________________________________

If you’ve ever witnessed one of Olene Kadar’s dazzling performances you must agree: this man is gifted. Sweeping floors with solid sounds and a striking stage appearance, he’s leaving a trace of believers wherever he plays. With his productions gaining support from some of the leading figures in house and techno, an international breakthrough is at hand.

Some lauded releases and many smashing liveshows down the line, Olene is hailed as one of Holland’s hottest talents. It’s hard to pinpoint his exact style, since it comprises so many different subgenres and is constantly developing. ‘Every day I wake up with a new favorite artist and a new favorite style,’ Olene elaborates. ‘I try to blend all these inspirations into something people can relate to on stage.’ In the end, it’s all about inspiring others, and getting inspiration back. ‘I get goosebumps every time I watch a crowd go mental to my music.’

With Olene’s Baby Keep It Up being one of the biggest tracks from the summer of 2010, a bunch of releases coming up on renowned labels like Nervous records and Mo's ferry, and some great gigs to look forward
to, the future is looking bright. Whichever way the road may wind, Olene is ready for a long
ride. ‘I intend to stay in music until I’m either deaf as a post or totally clueless – hopefully not
in another hundred years.’

+ Lovebirds
____________________________________________________________________________

Lovebirds is the solo project of Hamburg resident Sebastian ‘Basti’ Doering. Following 3 excellent singles on the much-respected Winding Road Records label, Lovebirds is big news right now. Labels such as Freerange and Buzzin Fly are hot on his heels, eager to sign his tracks.

The Lovebirds sound is like a blast from the past with house steroids packing serious production muscle. Listening to Lovebirds is like taking trip back to the 70s and 80s - but riding in a gleaming futuristic spaceship.

Although the Lovebirds name has burst onto the scene relatively recently, Basti is no beginner in the production game. Basti formed Knee Deep, together with old friend Toddie Freese in 1998. Knee Deep became a household name in the dance scene, leading to international DJ gigs and mountains of remix work. As Knee Deep, Basti has remixed Jamiroquai 3 times, as well as Bob Sinclair, David Morales, Brandy, and many others, even winning the prestigious “best remixer” category in the 2002 German Dance Awards in the process (beating Timo Maas along the way).

A few years on, Basti had achieved all he wanted to with Knee Deep, and was ready to move into more deeper, melancholy musical avenues. And so Lovebirds was born, which is now his main project. His production experience means that he is able to finish well-rounded tracks off in a matter of days, constantly building a repertoire of classy dancefloor and mellow sounds all destined to wow the world.

The process is well on its way already. The cream of the dance world has its eyes on Lovebirds. Tom Middleton is a big fan. Jimpster has signed up some tracks for a first EP on Freerange. Ben Watt is in regular contact and has signed a track for one of his recent compilations. Basti is involved in fruitful collaborations with Holly Backler, Vincenzo, and other artists. As if all this wasn’t enough, Basti is gathering a collection of songs for release on his and Vincenzo’s new label Teardrop Records, which is destined to become an essential new addition to the house library.
