Centro are proud to welcoming another distinguished guest in the form of: JOEL CHAPMAN (Uptown Records) This Friday alongside Resident Richard Evans. Joel Chapman – Uptown Records Joel Chapman Biog................ Joel began his career in the dance music industry at Milk ‘N’ 2 Sugars, as an assistant to the company’s main founders Tim Burnett and Sharron Elkabas. He then joined City Sounds, the highly respected House and Garage store in Farringdon, London where he worked for 8 months behind the counter. Joel was then quickly snapped up by Uptown Records, one of the longest running independent dance music stores in Soho - the heart of London’s dance music scene - where he now works full time as the House buyer. As a DJ, Joel is immensely proud of his reputation as a young, yet nevertheless highly respected soulful house music jock. Bookings for Joel have recently included London’s prestigious AKA/The End, Bar Rumba and the Ministry of Sound where he has shared the line up with the likes of Sandy Rivera, Copyright and Paul Farris. He has also found the time to play sets at the capital’s cooler late night bars such as Soho’s Mezzo and Chelsea’s Bluebird. His talents can be heard fortnightly on MoS Radio where he presents At The FourFour Front. Further strings to Joel’s bow include working tirelessly at FourFour Promotions, as part of the team who promote many of the world’s finest soulful house labels in the UK and with Melanie Louise on the first and only annual House Music Awards. As a journalist, Joel is also asked to contribute regularly to such worldwide dance music publications as Italy’s Discoid and M8, one of the UK’s leading dance music magazines.
