Thirsty Thursdays and HarderFaster Ibiza in association with radical escapes, HeatUK and DJDownload.com is proud to present a very special DJ competition for this year’s Ibizan Heat.

Too often DJ comps come with second rate prizes, a back room slot here, a few vouchers there. We want to offer you more. Let’s start first with the fact that EVERY finalist gets the opportunity to play in the epicentre of global clubbing and every DJ's mecca... Ibiza!

Finalists go head to head on the decks at legendary Ibiza sunset bar Kayna Beach for a chance to win the following amazing prize:

• A free holiday @ Ibizan Heat 2009;


• A set at a Heat party at Koko in 2009;


• A set at a Thirsty Thursdays;


• A full feature on HarderFaster;


• VIP guestlist admission with a friend to Cream Amnesia (inc a guided tour of the Cream DJ box inc the famous giant graphic equalizer)


• 100 download tokens for use on DJDownload.com;


• An hour slot on the DJDownload.com show on Ministry Of Sound Radio;

The panel of judges will consider:

• Track Selection - so make sure you pack your finest records or CDs;


• Technical Ability - this isn’t can’t mix, won’t mix;


• Presence - we want to see a winner who steals the show;


• And last but by no means least, crowd reaction - so best have a crew cheering you on.

That’s not to say the crowd is the most important thing. April Sparkelberry won our 2007 Frantic competition with nothing more than great tracks and a cheeky smile!

Mixes should be no more than 70mins in length and can be submitted via a downloadable, non-expiring link or track marked CD. You can submit either house or trance mixes, using new or old tracks, as long as the music is good we want to hear it!

Please remember to include your full contact details: name, address, phone number, shoe size, the usual stuff along with your booking reference for HarderFaster Ibiza. We wouldn’t want any prospective finalists to lose out on a slot because someone else entered and hadn’t bother to book!

Only people booked on the HarderFaster Ibiza tour beginning the 20th June 2008 and booked via Vacation Club under the HarderFaster name will be eligible to enter the competition and win the prize.

The winning DJ will win one free holiday at Ibizan Heat 2009 which will include accommodation, flights, transfers and the Ibizan Heat wristband (worth €150 in free admissions and discounts).

The set at Heat at Koko will be a warm up set in the main room at a party in 2009 as arranged via HeatUK.

The set at Thirsty Thursdays will be a headlining set billed as our HF Ibiza winner at a TT appropriate to your musical style.

The feature will be a face to face interview conducted at a time suitable for both winner and interviewer and will feature as a top story in the HarderFaster mailout and features section.

All other prizes are at the discretion of HarderFaster, HeatUK, radical escapes and DJDownload.com.

The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

It costs £125 to reserve your place and £349 in total based on three sharing which includes flights, transfers, your studio plus the Ibizan Heat wristband which entitiles you to €150 of parties and discounts.

Has this competition been offered before? is it something that could come up again?

We've offered a number of great DJ opportunities in the past, from playing at our monthly party TT, to slots at big parties like our Xmas bash and Frantic but we've never been in a position to offer such a great prize and I think it will put an up and coming in a perfect position to launch their career into the stars. Obviously I don't know what will happen in the future but I do know if I wasn't involved I certainly wouldn't want to let this opportunity pass!

Is there a limited number of places? i take it the place above Cafe can only take so many....?

How many places are you looking for?

We're working with Ibizan Heat so if all the places above Cafe del Mar fill up quickly we will have access to alternative accommodation.

Best thing to do is to book your places as soon as possible to ensure you get your sunset studio!

and one other thing....maybe its clear and i cant see it but.... the finalists play out in ibiza, how are you generating the finalists? is it just by the demo's sent?- thats cool, its just you mention presence and crowd reaction are judged

Yep, please send in your mixes, this is so we know you can play to the correct standard, play the correct style etc and to register your entry.

The finals in Ibiza will be judged by a panel from HF, radical escape and HeatUK, between us decades of experience in dance music, on the criteria set above.
