Guetta, Rowland and Cicada at The Roundhouse - wanna go?

This article is about Itunes Festival @ The Roundhouse in London (UK), Wed 08 Jul

Cicada will be supporting David Guetta and Kelly Rowland at the Roundhouse in London, on Wednesday July 8, as part of the iTunes festival.

As such, we've got a pair of ticket to give away and here's how we're going to do it:

Next week we're interviewing David Guetta. Comment on this story via DSI and the best question will win the tickets - we'll also use the question in the Mixmag interview.

The questions don't have to be serious so have fun with it and we'll pick a winner next week. Please make sure you can make it to Camden and back on that date before you enter.

Cher David, mon ami, jeune homme,

i) Votre marque «Fuck me I'm famous», il y a un peu d'ambigüité dans le nom. Est-ce que cela veut dire «Zut alors! Putain! C'est incroyable que je sois aussi connu que ça!» ou est-ce que le nom siginife «Baise-moi tout de suite, sale pute. Je suis énormément connu et j'ai envie de jouir maintenant!»?

ii) Si le 2ème, j'espère que vous avez un sens d'humeur ou t'aura l'air un peu con quoi.

I think we have a winner Hahaha!

Dear David,

During troubled economic times like these, with the macro-environmental climate the worse we've seen in this generation - many would be forgiven for having a pessimistic outlook towards the future of the music industry, in particular the sales of physical music media such a CDs. I'd therefore be fascinated if you could let me know the answer to the question that's on not only the lips of the economists, but on the minds of all music lovers across the globe... does Kelly Rowland have a hairy satchel?

Dear David,

Song titles are almost always (linguistically-speaking) grammatical constituents. Most commonly, these are Noun Phrases (NP) The Boy In The Bubble, but can also be Gerund Verb Phrase (VP) Working My Way Back To You, Babe, Prepositional Phrase (PP) In The Navy, Adverbial Phrase (AdvP) Always And Forever, Adjectival Phrase (AP) Little Green Bag, Sentence (S) This Is Not A Love Song and occasionally N-Bar Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Dancing With A Pict.

Nonconstituent titles and ungrammatical constituent titles are actually quite rare.

So my question is this: Was your choice of song title Baby When The Light actually a deliberate post-Chomskian eschewing of grammatical norms, or had you not thought about it that deeply?

Thanks,

Dave
