Babyshambles – UK Exclusive Festival Performance
In true Get Loaded tradition, we’ve gone for the jugular this year - exploring more musical genres than ever. Last year’s headliners included The Happy Mondays, Fatboy Slim, Paul Oakenfold and The Stereo MCs… whilst this year we’re delighted to announce the last great Rock Star, Pete Doherty and his band Babyshambles as this summer’s chosen sons. Pete & co will be Getting Loaded on the Common in an Exclusive UK Festival performance, making their appearance even more of a spectacle. Get Loaded in the Park will be the only place to catch Babyshambles out in the open air this summer and we wouldn’t be surprised if their performance was to go down in the history books… for all the right reasons! Forget the supermodel girlfriends, the court appearances and the daily press attention… beneath it all is a poet, a genius and a true rock and roll icon of our generation.
The Buzzcocks, De La Soul & The Cuban Brothers
Meanwhile, the multi-talented (and multi-tanned) Cuban Brothers return as exclusive hosts for the day, plus will be debuting their full 16 piece live band onto the Get Loaded crowd for the very first time. To celebrate 30 years of Punk we welcome The Buzzcocks as very special guests, with support from punkettes – The Slits. The afternoon’s entertainment will be brought to life by pioneering US hip-hop hippies, De La Soul. Expect Clapham to erupt as the famous trio unleash classic cuts like “Magic Number” and “Me, Myself and I”, with more hip-hop beats coming your way from the World’s No.1 Beat boxer Killa Kela. Having previously reformed The Happy Mondays, The Farm and Flowered Up, this year Get Loaded goes one better as we bring you a “Killer” and uber-rare live performance from acid house hero Adamski – who’s back in the groove after 15 years. Look out for special guest vocalists (fingers crossed!!) DJ sets come in the shape of the Hacienda Soundsystem (Peter Hook, Graeme Park & Bez) featuring Madchester faves N-Joi offering a Live PA of their classic anthem, erm “Anthem”. Also on the main stage will be everyone’s favourite Unkle – James Lavelle around a live show from breaks don Adam Freeland.
Greenvelvet, Tiga & Erol Alkan get Bugged Out!
Following the success of last year’s dance tent (which was hosted by Fatboy Slim and his Southern Fried Records crew), this summer the DJ baton is passed onto Bugged Out! - one of the UK’s most respected and forward-thinking club nights. Bugged Out! will be have the dance dudes rocking, as they bring you the heavyweight sounds of Greenvelvet, Tiga, Erol Alkan, Justin Robertson and Jojo De Freq, with a few more surprises up their sleeves to announce soon. X-FM’s John Kennedy returns to Get Loaded as the official host of The Midday Ramble Vs Stylish Riots Arena, which already features the likes of British Sea Power, 65 Days of Static, The Boy Least Likely To, Lethal Bizzle and The Chalets. The remaining tent on the Common will be co-hosted by Sean Rowley’s sensational Guilty Pleasures and the world famous Comedy Store. Expect cult choons from Sean, Terry Hall (The Specials) and more, alongside live performances from the brilliant Barefoot and one-man bands Kid Carpet and Son of Dave. Legendary drug smuggler Howard Marks returns for a 2nd year too, reading unheard extracts from his forthcoming new book. Other festival oddities this year include Breakdance Battles, Punk Fancy Dress, Laughing Gas, Cabaret, BBQ’s & the lovely Laundrettas. Tickets now on sale.
