Hot, heaving and happy!
Is too late to mention? What an awesome night! After a rather challenging few months Mark and I SO enjoyed ourselves and actually got to boogie and chat to people - definately good times all round! Those DJs absolutely rocked it and even though it was sweltering up there, and my legs were screaming 'Stooooop!' it was impossible to stop dancing for very long.

To those who say 'breaks is dead,' we say: 'Paff!'

None of your usual 'superstar' headliners on the lineup this month but all the acts put on a storming performance, kept the vibe firing all night long and never let up for a second, from JoeBot's fantastically uplifting and uptempo kick-off to the Bass Pilots' aural meltdown at the end. Funk me, this party wasn't waiting for no-one!!!! Just goes to show how much talent there is out there and that it's not just about the big names or how big your 'DJ profile' is...breaks is very much alive and kicking and busting at the seams!

A big hand please to JoeBot, Chemical Ali, the Drum Monkeys, J-Bass, Journeyman, the Bass Piliots and DEF inc. for making this party ROCK!!! Carl Loben(Drum Monkeys) is definately someone I would like to check out again, did some really interesting twists and turns building up his set and I didn't realise till afterwards that that was the Bass Pilots first ever London gig. What a buzz, they were absolutely stoked and we loved their mind-twisting sounds! Hailing from South Wales, this has also reaffirmed how we need to carry on inviting people down from outside London, keep checking out new acts, get all that talent out there and keep building up the scene!!!

Which comes to the donations - you absolute diamonds! For the first time in 3 years we had a donations box worth rattling which means we can hopefully now start inviting DJ's down from all over and cover their travel costs - which I'm sure you'll agree is the very least we can give back after they have entertained us all night - AND have a tidy little sum over to give to charity which this month is the Disasters Emergency Commitee. THANK YOU to everyone who came, who partied, who gave a little something back. Good times amongst great people AND be able to make a material contribution to those who need it can't be a bad way to spend a Friday night ! :-)))) We are so happy to be able to use these nights productively so please keep up the good work and spare what you are happy to give so we can keep on building up these events and give you the best goddamn party experience we can - making money from this is not what C64 is about.

There was definately a Glade re-union vibe in the air with festival outfits, accessories, fuzzy hair things and people (JP!!) bringing back good memories, even if it was 'Phew! We survived it!' It really warmed my heart to see the C64 yellow gazebo base camp back together again....love that group shot! xxx

Lots of new faces, international guests coming over specially (!) and great to have so many fellow breakers come join us too: Jimmy Mofo and the radiant Julia, Supatronix Ben Jurassik, the Courier DJs crew.....

MASSIVE thanks as ever to our emergency rigging crew amassed at last minute this month: Gary, Aitch-the-1-Armed-Bandit, Random Rose, Walter 'Joe' Odington, Magnus and TimmyMark who all dropped by to lend us a hand with the nuts-and-bolts of the show as well as the (3-times mentioned now!) Bass Pilots crew who - imagine our delight - turned out to be these 3 strapping Welsh lads. None of that geeky white boy shit thank-you-very-much...they don't build 'em like that down here.... fwooarrrr get me to those valleys! ;-)

Er..anyway...ahem...hold onto those good feelings 'cos there won't be a C64 in August as we take ourselves a break before we reconvene in September in back-to-school fashion....don't forget to sharpen your pencils and bring something for teacher!

Have a wicked rest-of-summer. I'm sure we'll see you out and about anyway..... Stay cool!

Yxxxxx :-)

Not sure why it only says 4 people watching Yas.

It says for me that it's in my inbox "because you're watching the C64 forum". Maybe people can see it, but it doesn't register somehow?
