Another fantastic night @ C64.
This month’s party was no doubt special.
Was amazing how many new c64’s joined us even in the last party @clockwork… the family grows from month to month. Having the package of some of the best DJ’s: Merka, Paul Arnold, Cheeky Chops and our DEF inc with their unique style. Isn’t it great how everybody got together to make sure that all goes well?
Oh well, what can I say! Every C64 we say: “Was maybe the best one ever!”…aren’t they all? LOL

All in all it was a fantastic night once more.

Shame I missed it, and glad it was a good one (was there ever any doubt?)...

(BTW, you might have more replies if you post it in the Higher Status group, since this event wasn't added in advance, there's hardly anyone watching the forum.)

Thank you Lily, that's lovely to hear! :-))) It was indeed a lovely one and I'm just about to put up something now...great to see you both! xxx

Dave - glad we sorted out that little sunset oddity! ;-) Yep, shame you weren't there, look forward to hearing how Ibiza was for you. In the meantime...Dear Dave: I'm not quite getting why some topics go in the Higher Status Events group, others in the Higher Status Regulars Group Chat, others under the C64 Event and then the reviews which only seem to go out to about 7 people!! Is there anyway of tidying all this up? Cheers x

then the reviews which only seem to go out to about 7 people!!

That one is easy - the review goes to everyone who is signed up for the event and has watched all topics in the forum. If the event is only added afterwards, then obviously nobody is signed up, so it doesn't go to anyone. (Except people like you and me who remember to go and manually read stuff!)

others in the Higher Status Regulars Group Chat

Stuff gets posted here if you explicitly post it in that group (e.g. post a message in the event forum, but do the Advanced Options thing to tell it to post it to a group before you do)

others under the C64 Event

Easy - when people who post it under an event forum.

go in the Higher Status Events group

You mean the "public chat from events"? I think this one is if the event is associated with a brand, then any chat posted in the forum will automatically be associated with the event too. But each brand has two forums, one for this, and one for "proper" group messages.

Am v v busy catching up with work today, and am not 100% expert on all this, but can strongly recommend giving the DSI promoters' line a ring (up in the topright hand corner of the page where it says "Stuck?") and they will explain it better than I can, cos that's what they spend a lot of the day doing :-)

look forward to hearing how Ibiza was for you

When next we meet, I'll tell you all about it!

xx

I might get shot down wit this one, but wouldn't it be easier just to have one group instead of two?

I.e. merge higher status regulars and Higher Status Events?

merge higher status regulars and Higher Status Events

Not possible - this is the way that brands (i.e. things with /parties in the URL, as opposed to normal groups, i.e. things with /groups in the URL) work:

The "Regulars" chat is the chat forum asociated with the group (HS).

The "public chat from events" - think of it as a SHORTCUT to content elsewhere, it's just convienience, the comments are not in the group. The only reason it's there is because that content is relevent to the group (the comments were posted on events run by the group brand).

(Thanks to OriginalNutta whose wording I have nicked there.)

So basically, if you post something explicitly to the HS group, it appears in the HS Regulars Chat. On the other hand, if you just post a normal comment to a forum for an event which just happens to have a party brand associated with it (but don't use the Advanced Options to explicitly post to the Regulars group), then it appears under "public chat".

If you post things in the regulars chat associated with the group, do they automatically appear in the group?
(Don't get Nutta's 2nd paragraph - what does he mean by public chat?)

Think I get it now.

Nothing gets posted in the Brand Group (kind of)
What "gets posted" in the brand group is actually in the brand group regulars chat
If posts are made under a listed event, then they go into public chat unless whoever is posting chooses the option to put it in the brand group regulars chat. (in which case are they also in public chat at the same time?)

I've just posted a normal comment on a C64 pic so let's see...

Nope, didn't think so, as I just posted it as a normal comment. Of course, I could have clicked Advanced Options and opted to post it explicitly to the group but I didn't. (If I had, non-HS members wouldn't get notification of it. Though, as long as the HS group is viewable to the public, then they could browse it manually. If HS was made private, then they couldn't.)

(Don't get Nutta's 2nd paragraph - what does he mean by public chat?)

This:

The one on the left is chat which is explicitly posted by a group member to the group.

The one on the right doesn't really exist as a "group" or "forum" as such. It's simply the collection of public comments made in any or all of the forums belonging to events which are associated with the HS brand.

Does that make sense now?

The one on the right

but it means by selecting the right hand option you can get to the public comments on that brand's events from the brand's page does it not?

Exactly.

(What do you mean by "but"? That makes it sound like a bad thing.)

Not sure this convo shouldn't be in DSI Hints and Tips, but carry on...

really a reference to Yas's original comment, because you can actually access all comments from the Brand page (assuming the event has been added with the brand details included) and don't have to search anywhere else for them (unless someone writes a random comment from their inbox and just invites whatever buddies they feel like inviting at that time)

Ah OK - if you mean particularly the bit which says:

then the reviews which only seem to go out to about 7 people!!

Then yes, it'll be because only 7 people have elected to watch that forum.

OTOH if she posts it to the actual HS group, then people who aren't group members won't see it (unless they go browsing manually).

Thanks for all your help. You know, I find all this really really hard to read. My brain does not understand logical procedures, I spazz out just looking at it!! This will take some long and slow deciphering...please bear with me and thanx once again. ;-)

Just work your way through the above slowly, and probably have a spare window open with the HS group on so you can look at things as you read about them.

I think that's about as simple as I can get it - I understand it a lot better myself just having written it, so just give it a go.
