This article is about Prohibition meets Reunite The Carnage @ Club Life in London (UK), Fri 24 Oct 2008
Afternoon Phil, we go back a fair few years how do you think things have changes within the dance scene?
It's no where as popular as it used to be. The sound is a bit more diverse these days. These days you may get 3 or 4 different styles played in one night. The smaller nights seem to be struggling a little and the bigger nights are only on every few months. Its just the sign of the times really.
Being a legend in many people’s eyes was there ever a point when you thought ‘this is the life’?
I still don't see myself as that. I know i've been playing for a long time and have experienced lots of different things over the years and have influenced a lot of people, which is always nice to know and that spurs me on the carry on doing what i love. I have a very normal life and have a full-time job, so that keeps my feet on the ground.
You’ve been lucky to travel pretty much every where…wheres your favourite clubbing destination and why?
Probably Argentina. Its a beautiful place. The people are very friendly and the people go nuts in the clubs, it's like DJing in England 10 years ago when it was at its height. Not to mention it has the best steak in the world!!!!
You've been slogging away in the studio for years…do you think djing can help you to produce or producing helps you to be a dj?
Of coarse. It's a great way to build your profile by making tracks. It can also get you access to tracks by other producers which aren't released yet, which is a big help when you can play stuff that no one has.
Where do you think hard dance will be in 10 years time?
Dunno, i'll be an old man by then and retired!!!
Over the years you have always had some sort of Mohican..is there some secret punk fascination?
I’m just bored of my hair and its got more extreme over the years.
What really annoys you?
Rude people and negative people and drivers who hog the middle lane of the motorway!!!!
Five things in your fridge..if there is actually anything in there.
Milk, Ham, Eggs, Parsley and Mint.
