So far our Corsica Warehouse parties have seen the likes of Daniel Bell, Derrick Carter, Andrew Weatherall, Phonique, Kenny Hawkes, Eddie Richards and Digs and Woosh grace the decks. We now present a night of upfront techno and house with Alex Smoke, Agoria and Rob Mello - alongside cutting edge talent Acid Casuals Feat PAPS (AKA Cian Ciaran of Super Furry Animals), Mark James and Matt Sawyer.
Corsica Studios is an intimate warehouse sandwiched between a number of brick railway arches. The space always has at least two rooms, a large semi covered outdoor terrace and Funktion 1 sound systems throughout. Located just 2 minutes behind Elephant and Castle tube station (Zone 1 – Northern/ Bakerloo Line) it’s easily accessible. You can forget queing systems to go outside for a smoke, large characterless rooms, overcrowding and over priced drinks … it’s clubbing without over regulation, where you can come and properly let go… it’s clubbing the way it’s supposed to be. Everyone who sees this venue is impressed, don’t be the last to discover!
Big line-ups away from the big clubs.
As Alex Smoke concentrates on a number of studio projects his live performances around the world have become increasingly rare. We have tempted Alex back out of the studio for this special intimate warehouse performance. Anyone who hasn’t been to Corsica yet don’t miss him in this place. It’s the perfect venue for seeing quality DJs up close. I don’t think there’s need to say much about Alex really, he’s an all round respected musician both inside and outside of techno, you either know him or you don’t.
Influenced by Jazz and Detroit Techno, Agoria is one in a long line of talented artists to emerge from the ever fertile French electronic scene. Agoria began producing his own material in 1997. Tracks such as 'La 11ème Marche' and 'Les Beaux Jours' have become classics played by DJs such as Jeff Mills, DJ Hell, Kevin Saunderson, Dave Clarke, Colin Dale, Joey Beltram, Ritchie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier and Sven Vath to name but a few. With his dance floor orientated live sets, Agoria is extremely well respected as a DJ, regularly playing throughout the world alongside the above mentioned artists. Agoria’s album of October 2007, released as part of the At The Controls collection, gained massive critical acclaim and 5/5 reviews from many critics, including the Resident Advisor team.
Rob Mello has recorded, produced, and remixed a diverse catalogue of releases since 1992. One of his guises was the pioneering disco and house duo Disco Elements/Sensory Productions, previously signed to Azuli Records. Rob was also co-founder of the saucy house label Luxury Service and produced the first Black Science Orchestra single with Ashley Beedle,
(‘Where were you’), released on the legendary London house label, Boys Own. Since then Rob has been appearing regularly on Classic Records and has also made the move into film score work. In 1999 Rob, along with Matthew Herbert, was responsible for writing all the incidental music for the UK club culture movie, Human Traffic. For which they were nominated for a BAFTA. Rob has been DJing since 1986 and has pioneered his own style that is much in demand with various regular appearances and residences all over the world, far too many to mention!
The night also features Acid Casuals DJs PAPS (AKA Cian Ciaran of the Super Furry Animals), Mark James and Matt Sawyer who in-between busy schedules have found time to produce strongly supported tracks (Richie Hawtin, Josh Wink and Co) released on major techno labels such as Novamute and Below.
See you there!
