Music : House and Techno

The Casio Burlington Project will be taking over Cable Streets Studio’s once again for what is shaping up to be another remarkable party. The line up has been painstakingly programmed to offer the party faithful some of the most engaging players in house music, this is straight up house at it’s finest and a rare chance to catch one of house music’s true legends in the UK.

Derrick Carter will be headlining proceedings in Unit 7. One of the pinnacles of Chicago house music's '90s wave, Derrick’s sets are rooted in house, but he freely travels outside club tastes, seamlessly incorporating old-school disco, soul, jazz and whatever catches his fancy. Carter, founder of Blue Cucaracha and Classic Records continues pioneering sound and innovative tracks and consequent critical acclaim have repeatedly marked him out as once of the most important players in Dance music.

Warming things up in the most literal sense of the word are purveyors of baroque motor city soul…Motorcitysoul. This is the deep house production-joint from Matthias Vogt (re:jazz, infracom records) and Christian "c-rock" Rindermann. The duo have received major props for their deep emotive house productions “keep on turning” feat Chez Damir, Kazan (Exit Cube) on Simple Records and recently “Mango” on Freerange as well as a multitude of quality remixes. Supporting motorcitysoul will be Balearic underground zealot Ryan O Gorman founder of the Burlington Project and resident for Ibiza’s notoriously subversive Vitalik parties.

In keeping with the musical integrity of the affair murmur returns to Cable Street hosting room two. “For this project we have gathered a selection of producers from the label’s back catalogue presenting an overview of our current sound. Daniel Stefanik provided us with an intricate remix on our first release, Rekleiner ‘Some People’. His solo productions and string of acclaimed remixes for labels Get Physical, Liebe Detail, Mobilee and Moon Harbour’s sublabel Cargo Edition (devoted entirely to his own releases) have marked out a distinctive sound that is a fitting match for the murmur story.

The murmur concept was born from Geddes’ desire to inject new life into his surrounding scene, turn a corner and enter a new stage for electronic music. Joining Geddes and Stefanik are label newcomer’s Tom Demac and Craig Torrance (Moodmusic, Four:Twenty) who will be providing the upcoming fourth and fifth releases on the label.

For those unfamiliar with Casio G-Shocks Burlington Project (www.burlingtonproject.co.uk) you will discover a unique guide to underground music/clubbing and an online community that allows users to promote both signed and unsigned music by allowing them to create profiles, upload their music and customize their biog’s. Think about a website designed for the music and people intent on sharing and nurturing it. That’s the Burlington Project.
