February 23rd 2008 heralds the return of the Chicago house legend, Derrick Carter to British shores. The king of ‘boompty boomp’ promises to thread his thumping beats through your veins in a 3 hour set at Elephant and Castle’s warehouse venue Corsica Studios.

‘Derrick Carter’ and ‘warehouse’ are not usual neighbours in the same sentence. In an uncharacteristic move, Carter is swapping the super club glitz for some warehouse grit with just the beats and the Funktion 1 sound system to embellish his act - Warehouse 1, Super Club 0. Carter’s reputation is now one of world renowned eminence. Now it’s London’s turn to shake its ceilings under his might once again.

Carter will be joined in his warehouse debut by legendary illegal rave crusaders Digs and Woosh and Lakuti, the founder of label and events outfit Süd Electronic. With the Acid Casuals (fronted by Cian Ciaran of the Super Furry Animals) polishing off this impressive line up, the event will excite even the most serious of rave connoisseurs.

The event is brought to you by Brand New Fiction, who, after the run away success of the Super Furry Animals Warehouse Party, plan to make their warehouse go-off’s a regular feature of the London listings. Driven by an ethos of ‘no frills, maximum fun’ music, Brand New Fiction strives to source the best DJ’s and present them in relaxed surroundings – you could say they are doing it for the love and yeah, they are.

Derrick Carter may not be the only pull on this dark February night. Nestling under the City Thameslink viaduct, Corsica Studio’s tardis like labyrinth boasts the right balance between scruffy and ship shape; guaranteed to please those who like a little rough with their smooth. The large semi covered outside courtyard offers a place for the chill-and-chat and ticks the smoking box nicely.
