After the sell out success of the Brand New Fiction, Super Furry Animals Warehouse party, with Andrew Weatherall and Eddie Richards we are now proud to present Chicago House Legend Derrick Carter playing an exclusive 3 hour Warehouse set!!!

From here on in Brand New Fiction will bring London monthly events with the emphasis being on putting interesting line-ups together, featuring quality artists from the various divisions of Techno, House and Indie. We will showcase fresh talent whilst also wooing huge acts who usually don’t play outside of the big club circuit.

Derrick Carter who should need no introduction is recognised the world over as not only the King of ‘boompty boomp’ but also one of the most talented DJs in the world, and according to New City (November 2006) one of the most famous people from Chicago. For this one off event Carter will be moving away from glitz clubs and bringing House music back to the underground with a special warehouse set. This is an extremely rare opportunity to catch the master himself in such intimate surroundings and all will be played out over a crisp Funktion 1 sound system.

In support will be Digs and Woosh, who set up one of Britain’s first House sound systems (DIY) in 1989 and continued well into the face of the anti-rave legislation (Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994), with DIY playing a key role in the largest illegal rave ever put on at Castlemorton Common Festival. (Some of the only recorded sets of the event feature Digs and Woosh and can still be found on the internet today)
Throughout the 90’s DIY also worked successfully in the realm of legitimate club nights, with their 90’s Bounce events being ranked in the top 10 UK club nights by The Times. The popularity of Bounce souring as a result of its lack of concern for dress codes or financial exploitation of its clubbers, coupled with its niche music style of deep, techy and often minimal house music. Also the people behind record labels, Strictly 4 Groovers, DIY Discs and Serve Chilled, Digs and Woosh have put quality tracks out from the likes of Derrick Carter, Fred Everything, Charles Webster and Phil Asher to name but a few.

Further support will come in the shape of Lakuti who founded record label Süd Electronic in 2002 alongside Bodycode (AKA Portable). The labels output has been supported by artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Rolando and many more, whilst Süd events have have introduced many artists to London audiences, past guests including Dan Bell, Alex Under, Audio Werner, Jay Haze and Juan Atkins amongst many others.

The night also features the Acid Casuals (a collective fronted by Cian Ciaran of the Super Furry Animals), who in-between busy schedules have found time to produce strongly supported tracks (Richie Hawtin, Josh Wink and Co) released on major min-techno labels such as Novamute and Below.

Corsica Studios is located within an intimate warehouse unit underneath the City Thameslink viaduct and is sandwiched between a number of brick railway arches. The space has two rooms with a large semi covered outdoor terrace and a Funktion 1 sound system throughout.

We’re sure Derrick Carter and these unique surrounds will offer a night to remember. See you on the dance floor.
