The 65D Mavericks was created by the highly respected Richard Polson (Founder of the renowned Surface Records and co-founder of Blueprint Records, with James Ruskin) and Nick Dunton a producer in his own right, who has worked under many guises in various different underground scenes over the last decade as well as being the founder of the innovative Inceptive Records.Richard Polson sadly passed away recently, with Nick Dunton continuing to keep the flame alight.Surface Records has been a long standing messenger in the techno community.The recently launched sister label Inceptive chooses to showcase new and up and coming talented artists. Extremely well respected by producers and DJ's throughout the electronic music scene for their no-compromise philosophies in their approach to releasing and showcasing music.

Under The 65D Mavericks guise many records have highlighted releases for labels such as Tresor, Surface, Lost/Cosmic, Blueprint, Downwards, Theory, Light and Dark, Warm Up, Influence, Infrastructure, Exist, Deta, Tsunami and Rodz Konez.Performing regularly for nights such as Split, Tilted Disco and Lost, (whose fixtures have always remained true to the soul of electronic music) Nick Dunton continues tearing updancefloors while forging forward with musical productions. Alex Downey, long standing techno messenger of the recently closed Covert records, Brighton. Covert served quality selected electronic music heads and working Djs worldwide for 10 years under Alex's guidance. Alex delivers the finest electronic music when playing out, with an emphasis on mood, while layering textures to intensify pressure on the dancefloor. A deep weave of bubbling funk infused techno is the order of the day. Mystical and deep.

Alex is the resident at Ben Sims' Split parties, performing regularly for Tilted Disco, while travelling globally to deliver the message, with highly praised performances recently in Japan and Greece.With a record collection of true gems, Alex plays records that have stood the test of time as well as upfront fresh material, a symbolic methodology which ignores release dates and focuses on quality.
