After the success of the summer terrace parties at Dex with Justin Robertson & Lee Mortimer, we're back inside at Dex with a Spook-takular Halloween party on Saturday 31 October. Headlining is the brilliant Rex The Dog, bringing his stunning audio visual extravaganza into the main room. Check Rex out recently at Matter - youtube.com Dex have erected a brand new winter terrace canopy which is essentially a huge tent that covers both terraces to keep you cosy through the Winter. The music will be inside but the terrace will be more inhabitable in the winter months than normal. Rex the Dog is the canine producer with a love for seventies synths. Rumour has it Jake Williams helps him out with the buttons he can't reach with his paws. When Rex The Dog first signed to seminal German label Kompakt, Jake's identity was kept a secret. Whilst in the "Rex" persona, Jake politely shrugs off questions about why he keeps his identity a secret, and it is still largely unknown. There is often ambiguity in interviews. Although Jake calls himself "Rex The Dog", when speaking about his activities he often refers to "Himself", and then "Rex", or "We" as if he is a two piece, helped by his dog. During a radio interview with Annie Mac, taped sounds of a dog barking once or twice to indicate "yes" or "no" were played in order to answer questions. Under his first production name; JX, Jake had a string of big hits in the early 90's. He first shot to fame in 1993 as a 16-year old with the dance anthem "Son of a Gun". More recently, his ‘Rex The Dog Show’ album from last year was a huge success, and he regularly guests at Matter, Womb in Tokyo, as well as at Slide’s 14th birthday in Oxford in Feb ’09. His live shows feature animations of him and his dog doing various everyday activities drawn by Jake himself, get ready for the full audio visual experience with Rex at Dex! myspace.com rexthedog.net FANCY DRESS OPTIONAL - FANGS WILL BE ISSUED ON ARRIVAL!
