Go!Zilla launch at East Village **NEW VENUE** Alex Attias (Planet E) ~ Giles Smith/ DJ (Dessous/ secretsundaze) ~ James Priestley/ DJ (Go!Zilla / secretsundaze) ~ Room 2 hosted by ‘Who’s Afraid of the Cosmic Truth’ Soft Rocks/ DJ (Eskimo/ Soft Rock Recordings) ~ Cosmic Truth / DJ (Not Afraid) Saturday 23rd February 10pm – 4am £10 before 11pm / £12 after / £10 NUS and concessions 89 Great Eastern Street, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 3HX Info: thezilla@gmail.com | www.myspace.com/thezilla1 This month Go!Zilla moves into new surroundings, a fresh venue round the corner from its continuing bi-monthly home of Cargo. East Village (formerly Medicine Bar) broadens Go!Zilla’s grasp of genres with floor one bringing the cream of underground house and techno artists while upstairs shifts to disco and freestyle enabling a more specialist approach for each room and variety to the beats. The venue itself has had a complete overhaul with new sound system, layout and door policy, East Village is now destined to be the cream of the area. For the launch weekend, long-standing DJ/ producer Alex Attias joins us from Switzerland. It is the love, deep appreciation and understanding for Detroit techno that has brought Attias to the attention of Carl Craig who gave them a home on Planet E. Like much of the best electronic music, there is a progressive searching pulse in the music here and this is a new look at what techno can be - fresh and alluring. Giles Smith joins his secretsundaze partner James Priestley for a rare Winter performance together to welcome a new venue for Go!Zilla. Giles’ recent releases on Four:Twenty and Dessous as Two Armadillos have seen a huge wave of support as well as our only resident Priestley’s on Simple and remixes on various labels. The pair’s new label venture has brought about the successful compilation in celebration of the club night and world tour for the brand. Upstairs is hosted by the Who’s Afraid of the Cosmic Truth Collective who have been staging spectacular disco soirees in the darkest depths of Hackney. They bring the sounds of Soft Rocks a 4 piece Brighton collective who are heavy duty record collectors, with a purists pleasure in the obscure and oddities of this world with their own self-titled and sought-after label. They will be on the decks alongside the brand’s own Cosmic Truth. So come test the new dancefloor, welcome the wider musical spectrum and join us for the new episode of Go!Zilla parties. www.myspace.com/attiasworld | www.myspace.com/jamespriestley www.myspace.com/gilessmithmusic | www.myspace.com/softrocksrecordings ~ ALSO CHECK GO!ZILLA BI-MONTHLY AT CARGO NEXT DATE 29TH MARCH ~
