This article is about Mixmag: Night and Day @ Egg in London (UK), Sat 23 May
Cancel T4! Mixmag’s Night and Day means there’ll be no lazy lie-ins this bank holiday Sunday. We’ll still be at it!
Mixmag’s ‘Night and Day’ sees the world’s biggest dance music and clubbing magazine take over the full 6 room partying capacity of London’s Egg club and outdoor garden for a lengthy session of the smart beats, cool clubbers and just a smidgen of sleep deprived madness next bank holiday weekend.
Running from Saturday evening right through to until Sunday lunchtime, ‘Night and Day’ is the ideal opportunity for Mixmag to showcase the varied number of artists and sounds we’ve been raving about recently. Genres covered on the night run the gamut from d’n’b and techno right through to disco house, party electro and more. Only clubbing bible Mixmag would have the vision and bottle to bring such a diverse selection of artists together on one night for this very special mini festival. First up, Wales’ curly-haired drum n bass supremo High Contrast will be on hand to dazzle us all with the sick, broken beats and samples found on his ‘Tough Guys Don't Dance’ album and Fabric mix CD and previewing his brand new album Confidential coming out this month.
Diminuitive Chilean techno don Pier Bucci, who’s long been based in Europe, will be on hand to deliver one of his rocking live sets, rife with the minimal and melodic techno bumps that have seen him release on top underground labels such as Crosstown Rebels and Luciano’s Cadenza imprints.
London’s master of beatboxing Killa Kela will also be in the house, bringing it to the mic and wowing us voracious vocalizations. This guy has to be seen (and heard) to be believed.
Crossing the channel from Paris, Electro-rockers Poney Poney will be bringing the noise with a DJ set that reflects their new Xavier from Justice-produced album.
And puper hot, Scottish cosmic electro upstart Grum (whose visualidentity is being masterminded by the same talent beyond Mylo’s) will also be present.
If this isn’t enough to wet your musical appetites, there will be bass-driven house beats to stomp to from Heavy Feet, noisy beats and laughs galore from Canada’s Jokers of the Scene, more d’n’b magic from Cyantific, very cool disco house vibes from Jozif, fun-filled peak-time house from I:AM, London electro-house party starters Sick On The Dancefloor.
Hollyoaks’ loss is our gain. See you down the front!
