Chris Rayner’s come a long way since his college radio days.
Now taking the clubbing scene by storm I caught up for a quick chat (and a few pints) with Chris before his debut set at Monkey this Saturday.

1)Alright mate how are you doing?
I'm very well thank you. Have just had the first quiet weekend in a long while and am feeling rested and ready to party again!
2) What have you been up to?
Apart from the weekend just gone I've been out and about most weekends. I was at Renaissance a couple of weeks ago for Shlomi Abers album launch and to hook up with Sonny Wharton down at the Cross. I was supposed to go to Fabric for Villalobos after but didn't make it. I ended up at Secretsundaze though much to my body's dismay!
3) Since winning the Mixmag bedroom Heroes competition in August 2005 you’re schedule seems to have become a tad busy. What’s a typical day like for you now?
It could always be busier! Outside of my day job I'm usually stuck behind a computer running my website Inhale. There's always something to do each evening and if you don't keep on top of it all it very easily gets out of hand. I probably receive at least 10 singles and a couple of albums a week that need to be reviewed or previewed on the site, add to that the constant search for mixes from new and established djs I have my work cut out!

4) You’ve played set using a both CD’s & Vinyl? Which one’s your favourite?
I think I'll have to say CDs. I haven't used vinyl in about 3 years now. Since Pioneer released the CDJs I've never really looked back. You can do so much more with a CDJ than a deck. It allows you to bring another level to your DJ sets. I just wish all venues stocked three of them!
5) Name your top 3 tunes at the moment?
Tignino & Leo - How Can You Feel (D Nox & Beckers Remix)
Tom Neville - Slide (Original Mix)
Dubfire - Rib Cage (Original Mix)
6) After playing at many a global haunt which one’s been your favourite?
I can't say I've really got a favourite to be honest. I love going to play over in Russia. Every time I've been over there it's been amazing. Turnmills is always fantastic as I used to go there most weekends before I was djing. Recently though playing at Inigo in Clapham for my own night Inhale has been great. You just can't beat looking up to a packed dancefloor knowing that it was all down to you.
7) Any recommendations as for who to look out for on the scene in the up and coming months?
I have Yousef coming down to play at Inhale in November which is definitely one not to be missed. Sasha is back at Ministry in December and Moby is in London at the end of the month! You can’t beat that for quality!

8) With all those other promotions out there gagging to get you to play sets at their nights what made you go with Monkey?
Great friendly people and an anything goes music policy!
9) What can the crowd at Monkey expect from you on 20th October?
A bit of everything! I'm really into the deeper stuff at the moment but I think I'll be cranking it up for Monkey. There's a really old house tune that I've recently re-discovered which I've been gagging to play out which will definitely be in the bag. I'm not telling you what it is though you will just have to turn up and see for yourself!
Catch Chris alongside G.E.M and her fellow Monkey resident’s on Saturday 20th October from 8pm until 3am at El Paso, 350 Old Street, London, EC1V 9NQ
