THE Birthday party of THE YEAR!!!!POW!
We all get at times what I terminally call- ‘ The hardcore blues’ ! It comes in many shapes and forms and can stay for- well quite a while!

Sadly mine have lasted a matter of months now and I have been a little unoptimistic with my Mcing.

I have had the privilege of being part of Ballistic Beats from their very first event staged in their home town of Horely at club Liquid Lounge . This went totally off back some time of last year…

Since then Ballistic Beats have put them selves out staging the same type of hardcore parties in London. A mean feat by no body’s standards. Always creating a one off unique happy ravey - good time party vibe that every rave should have in today’s world.

The 14th of November boasting something extremely special- London’s FINEST duo- D.J Vibes & MC Live Lee’s birthday party!!!!!!
Beer at the ready I made my way over to Mr Sparkles house, to travel down to Vauxhall with him Greg Peaks and Dave Pinnicle.
My self and Sparkle were due to play the midnight set in arena two a Rave Breaks and hardcore set.
After a very quick beer in he studio and car and my self finding out that my new found C.D’s wouldn’t play on Mr Sparkles CDJ’s we were forced to hit the road and make for the Factory as time was well and truly getting on.

We made the club in good time and after a friendly search from our mates the bouncers (were regulars!) We had sadly missed our producers set- D.J Prospect- but heard that it went down A STORM! We were greeted by the second half of Ballistic Beats -D.J Kaine and his lady at the door, along with smiling faces of Mike Vapour and Jo Bouncing Raver- always a pleasure!

I pushed the doors aside to arena two where we were going to play in half an hours time, and the bass from some pumping hard house filled my ears and the lights and smoke machine were in full effect- you could sense the party vibe building, for this very special night…
D.J Ampz from Eruption F.M was on the decks in true fashion, he’s another veteran who I’ve known for a while now and never fails to deliver first class set each and every time what ever genre!

With no time to waist I made my way straight into the main hardcore arena, it’s nice and spacious with ample seating around both sides, complete with dance podiums either side of the main stage, which is set back a little with D.J box and MC at the front over looking the main room dance floor- History of Hardcore’s Insane and Mind were in full swing of yet again another body thumping slammer of a set! Accompanied by London’s legendary MC Spenno. I stood there and thought this is only the third set of the night!?!

The ravers had already gathered and were showing love and respect for the worthy set, in true Ballistic magic, shouting and calling back to Spenno on the mic![Error in dsi:object tag]

I then took a minuet out to talk to D.J Distortion- the first Half of Ballistic Beats, who told me that sadly a couple of D.J’s due to illness couldn’t now make it - Raindances Double G who was set to play after Myself and Sparkle had been struck down with the flu that has been doing it’s nasty rounds again. With less than ten minuets to spare I had to make my way swiftly back to arena two to start off our Hit Squad set!

C.D’s in hand and breath poised in hoping that the Factories CDJ’s would read my CD’s, I met Mr Sparkle at the top in the D.J box. D.J Ampz slammed into his last one and it was time to step up!

Now we are called the Hardcore Hit Squad but on this occasion we had been booked to play a Breaks set! We like to go different when we can man! I started the rolling with our number one intro newly made by myself and our Producer- D.J Prospect, it’s designed to blend in with any style of music which it does a treat, and also shouts out our name too- cool eh!?! After this the crowed were shouting and I had switched over to a new release on Junki Monkey Records By The Flash Back Project, a cheeky little number that’s very punchy with good bass, and a nice piano going on, it certainly did the trick for opening tune! After playing more releases on the same label D.J Twista’s new tune Sensation it was time for me to pass over to Mr Sparkle!
After setting the microphone up, the crowed returned from the chill out area, and I announced him in fine style- just I did this, I looked over the top of the D.J box and saw MC Livelee! Giving an immediate big birthday shout to the birthday boys it was time to fly!

We were playing adjacent to the Track Master Music set in the main arena, where my old friends MC Macca and Lyrical Groover were smashing it up to the sounds of the unique D.J Breakz! I later heard that this set went off! - And not surprising given who it was!..[Error in dsi:object tag]

Back in arena two Mr Sparkle had kicked of with a mainly Vinyl set, (nice to see!) and the crowed were hyped from our Hardcore /break beat style, as again we had taken the music in a different direction!
I hosted the set ,and with regular faces of Sandi, Kezbo and Katy Hughes - who’s birthday we also were celebrating the party atmosphere was well and truly inside the ride!!!
In true raving style, and in aid of what a good time we were having our set came to an end at 1.00am and Ampz had to step up for the people of arena two, as Double G wasn’t there. Showing his real mixing colours Ampz took to the wheels of steel to play an upfront hardcore set.

I hosted the first part of this before handing over to another friend of mine- MC Recognize. An up and coming Mc that is set to take the world by force very ,very soon… And a good job I did really as Vibes and Livelee birthday set was in full swing in the main room!
Beer in hand and Oi Oi’s at the ready I ventured into what was a full on rave!!! -
Party people smiling, jumping up and down to the sounds of Martin Rise with birthday boy Vibes! Livelee doing his thing on the mic, a joy as always to behold! The set it’s self was one of the best that I have heard, Rise playing a mix of his own tracks and releases on Quosh and many more, with Vibes slamming home some of his un heard of material with upfront bounce with Miracle thrown in for good measure! To top the birthday set off- Vibes played Fun Fair Vocal remix as well as his anthem Disco Land!- It had to be done really!

As ever- just getting better Vibes old friend Dougal was next up with MC Skatty and myself to host the set. I was a little nervous but as Livelee cleaned the mic. . To hand over to the mighty Skatty all was well, I congratulated Rise on his set with Vibes and began the set with Skatty. We had been given half an hour as to let Recognize and MC Mayhem have ago to Dougal too breaking the set up nicely, the mic a little low but never the less it was fair to say that this WENT OFF! Dougal- never to disappoint playing all his major new tunes, Skatty blew it up and again before we knew it was time to hand over to Mayhem and MC Recognize. Mayhem I say it every time gets better and better- true to form!

Twisted Bliss dancers in fulll flight, new additions, Becky Brutality and a Touch of Pink, with Raindances very own Agent Bunikins & The one and only Ms Jenny Jane- kept the pace going nicely!!!!

Over in arena two Greg Peaks played a set of his life too, taking the crew through a hard dance journey, I heard that this also went really well, nice one mate!

After this D.J Darwin took over the hardcore show- and what a show he did- laying down, the best hardcore all over from J.A,L and many more still hosted my Recognize and Mayhem, keeping the crowded entertained as ever! It really was not letting up!!! This was the first time that I’d seen Darwin but knew about his top class production, as he has just remixed Ballistic Beats - Always featuring Mel- top class good hardcore from this guy, I cant wait to see him again very soon!

I took a little breather for a while catching up with an old friend Spike, he hasn’t been out in a long while so it’s always nice! Tyronnster from Master Ravers came down, and played a harder style set, I really enjoyed what I heard of this too! Then arena two was taken over by the king of boink himself - P.S.R! Pulling out all the stops for the birthday party complete with his own remix again he did us all boink justice as ever!
Lill Bri was stomping it up with hardcore wickedness with MC Nuttah and Mayhem still holding it down! The crowed still in full swing it was all good! More on the upfront tip and really playing for and to the crowed Lill Bri took us through untill5.00am nicely!

Next up was Ballistic Beats very own D.J Distortion back to back with Hardcore Break Down’s Mike Vapour- fresh of the plane from Canada with MC Lyrical Groover!
They slammed and smashed their way through hardcore like never before, and out of know where Mel from Ballistic Beats stepped up and performed Always - by Distortion & Kaine live on stage! A - P.A that goes down like an angel to heaven- I almost passed out at this point- it was THAT GOOD……..!

I took a little turn for the worst as the Ballistics’ brother Tom had supplied me with drinks all night and I was due back on for the last set at 6.00am…After Lyrical vacating earlier than I thought it was left up to me….D.J’s Eufion and Hoodzie in the wings I stepped up to an empty stage, heart in mouth thinking- ‘how the heck am I going to do this?’ After the first crystal clear mic check it was all pretty much plain sailing- apart from a small technical when we had to sort out the system- I thin it was due to TOO MUCH good party vibes ! This set was out of this world, I personally as an MC have never enjoyed my self as much as this, and it really went off for a last set! Both D.J’s playing new material made by them, the mixing was off the chain, and there really isn’t much left to say-

The crowed which lasted were still very much loving it!!!! This was just the perfect way to finish what has been so far one of the best hardcore nights London has witnessed this year.
A NIGHT OF MANY A celebration as Ballistic’s D.J Kaine bagged him self a set at Raindance in the new year- as he impressed agent Bunnikins so much with his set!

Ballistic will be back in the new year in around March time so keep your eyes and ears closely peeled for this- strictly not to be missed!!!!!

I would just like to say thank you to the team for my restoration of faith in the hardcore scene again!
God bless to all the crew.

Dave Hill
