This article is about Never Grow Up @ Fluid in London (UK), Fri 01 May
Rob Savage (Groove Diggerz) is the boss man at Breakin Even Records and is also the main man behind the Groove Diggerz. Since their debut on the scene a mere 2 years ago they are an act everyone is watching in breaks circles right now. This year they were nominated for best DJ and label in Breakspoll 2008. At Breakspoll 2007 they won the prestigious Breakthrough Producer award 2007 and were nominated in the Breakthrough DJ and Breakthrough record label “Breakin Even”.
After returning from a second massive tour of Australasia they played at the “Beautiful Days” and the infamous “Glade” Festivals in the middle of last year before embarking on a tour around Europe, Asia and Australasia to promote their forthcoming album, 'Money For Good Times'.
Nearly 2 years in the making the Groove Diggerz 2nd album is finally complete and ready to be unleashed on the public. The ‘Diggerz’ have produced mind blowing instrumentals while aided by some of the hottest up and coming and iconic vocalists in the industry.

I spent the afternoon watching Chelsea get one over on Newcastle (poor Alan Shearer eh) then went to my good buddies Pete n Lils place for a few beers with the fiancé, then headed into town for a benefit gig for a friend of mine, all in all a good day all round, and the sun was shining!!
Depends what you mean by kid? (I still feel like one now ;) ) Seriously though…I was into stuff like old Acid Jazz, Galliano, Urban Species etc etc, I started Djing when I was about 17 ..the really early UK 4/4 Garage (Grant Nelson/Joey Youngman type stuff) I had a little residency in my home town, Reading, and being a drummer aswell I joined an indie band for about 5 years as well, we made an album , did 3 European tours, GOOD TIMES!!! so I’ve got a real broad spectrum of music influences going on really.
I think a few of the breakbeat heads are going to be a bit confused to be honest, because it’s such a crossover album of different styles, a real journey. I think an artist album has to show a lot more diversity and influence to the listener, I worked with a lot of vocalists on this album aswell so that was a cool, I just hope people get it and ultimately BUY IT!!! J
Defiantely!!! I was lucky enough to be introduced to her by my manager at the time Cut La Roc, he’d known Lindy for years, I originally made the tune as a bootleg, but when he heard it he thought we should play it to Lindy and see if she would be up for re recording it, and luckily enough she loved it. We hooked up and got on great, she’s a diamond girl, so I want to work with her on loads of stuff in the future.
That’s a tough one as I’ve had so many great experiences already, but when I played at a festival on boxing day in Perth called ‘Breakfest’ it was pretty amazing, I’ve never seen so many people dancing to my music in the sunshine in my life, it was pretty special.
I’ve known Ronnie Black for years now he’s one of my best mates, then there’s my ex girlfriend Princess Jewels who’s got an amazing voice, we still get on great, then AKA-Fella is the newest recruit to the Diggerz line up and he’ll be showing off his skills on the mic as well, this guy is pretty talented so you’re in for a treat. All feature on the new album 'Money For Good Times' which you can order from www.breakineven.co.uk, lucky people!
I'm just back from Canada and Germany - big love to all out there for making it so cool. I’ve got a few residencies in Reading and some TBC'd London/festival dates over the Summer. Playing the Cuckoo club in Brighton on the 23rd April, then back to Canada in September, and Australia and New Zealand is on the cards, i hope, with a few vocalists over xmas and New Year…Actually, we’re doing Album launches in Reading, at the Warwick Arms on the 25th April, then a few more dates UK, Brighton, London etc. All details will be on the new site!!
We’ve just split the label into 3 which is really exciting, BE Breaks, BE Deep and BE Music, BE Breaks will continue to release dance music of all genres mainly focusing on Breakbeat as that’s the scene that launched the Diggerz, then BE Deep is a sub label which will concentrate on the deeper side of things, anything from Deep House, to Chill Out, to Nice deep drum and Bass, a bit of everything really as long as it makes the hairs on the back of your head stand on end! We've just launched the new website as well actually so make sure you check it out at www.breakineven.co.uk.
I’m loving the new BSD stuff, back to basics breakbeat, really clean sounding stuff also the new Rico Tubbs remix album coming out on Menu is massive, also the new forthcoimg Groove Diggerz singles - Funky Heroes and Good Times (D and B edit) I’m a big fan of D and B out fit Break as well so I might drop a bit of D and B, you never know
Of course, I can’t wait, expect a big mix up of new and old bigness, lookin’ forward to it!!
>>> Get the door. exclusive Groove Diggerz mix ... here!!!!! <<<

Just be Good To Me’ is a cover version of the S.O.S. Bands classic also made famous in 1989 with Beats International and Lindy Layton. The Diggerz managed to get Lindy Layton on their version as she loved it so much. Lindy is joinedby regular Diggerz MC Ronnie Black, who puts his usual magic touch in place. You can also hear the luscious Lindy on ‘Body Flow’ & ‘Weirdness’
