Phil Drummond has been stirring up London over the last few years with his twisted, deep grooves, as well as hammering parties all over Europe with the likes of Paul Jackson, Jose Nunez, Seb Fontaine, Chris Lake, D.Ramirez and Tim Sheridan to name a few, Phil is ready to push Minimar to the limit both musically and mentally on Friday 9th at Heaven. Guesting at all the biggest minimal techno clubs London has to offer right now including Retox @Sosho, 54, the 333 club, 93 feet and Egg. He has ‘soon to be released’ tracks with both Paul Jackson and The Beginerz as well as under his new guise “The Polyphonic Prostitutes” We caught up with Phil to find out a little bit more about this talented DJ.

Tell us what’s new in the world of Phil Drummond?
Just bought a nice new Tee shirt from Camden market on Saturday, might even wear it this weekend!!!

What have you been up to recently in London and abroad ?
I have 2 residencies in London, Retox@Sosho & Breakfast@Egg so I cant really do that many other London gigs. Was in Moscow, Siberia and the Bahamas last month so the foreign stuff is going well. I love easten Europe, never had a bad time out there although it can seem pretty lonely in Russia, nobody speaks any English.

You have soon to be released tracks with Paul Jackson who you are playing at Minimar with, tell us a bit about that ?
We’ve been doing a Techno ep for Pauls “Dozer” record label but its getting hard to find the time to finish it cos we’re both pretty busy at the min.

What``s your favorite country to play in (and why)?
Ibiza is always great in the Summer, its just got that great holiday vibe about it. I first played there in 1993 although it has changed so much over the years its always been a great party for me

What do you think of the UK scene at the moment?
Im loving it. I’m lucky enough to have a residency at Retox, where myself and Paul can play whatever we like. You don’t get the chance to do that very often.
There are some great Techno nights popping up now such as Minimar, Superfreak, DDD etc and some great music out there so its looking good for the summer

Where is your favorite place to play in the UK?
Retox@Sosho, if you’ve been, you’d know why

If you could only play one more club ever, what club would it be and what other DJs would be playing?
Stringfellows, just me and Paul and about 200 dancers!

Why do you think you``ve been successful as a DJ?
Im a lucky bastard!

And as a producer?
I had 2 big hits a long time ago, I don’t really make that many records anymore so I wouldn’t call myself a producer

What do you prefer (producing or DJ``ing)?
Djing

What do you like to do away from dance music?
I used to be pretty active, go carts, motocross etc but im getting old now, I just seem to go out for dinner and get a little fatter each time!!!

Tell us something about you that not many people know?
I was homeless and lived in a car at South Mims service station for 7 months a few years back. I now live in Mayfair, who’d have thought that was possible?

Minimar@Heaven on Friday of course, then im off to Switzerland on Saturday.
