First off Ed, thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions for our party revelers!!
Q. How old were you when you started playing?
A. A mere 13.
Q. What or who is behind your musical inspiration?
A. Iv been into a lot of types of music over the years. Hip-Hop, Funk, Metal, Drum and Bass to name a few. Iv always liked edgy and often aggressive music, and I think this comes through in my current productions.
Q. How would you describe your sound?
A. Potent, stripped back electro.
Q. You have done a series of blistering remixes for some big labels, tell me a bit about that?
A. Iv done a remix of Prok and Fitch’s ‘The Chant’ which is due out on Stealth which is Roger Sanchez label. Also, Iv recently finished a remix of Granite an Funk’s – Real Life, which is due out on Toolroom. Out now you can get my remix of Trigger Happy by Savant Garde which is on Definitive - one of John Aquaviva’s and Richie Hawtin’s Labels.
Q. What have got coming out in the next couple of month’s
A. Iv got about 10 forthcoming records at the moment. They are supposed to be coming out soon, but iv learned not to get too excited about release dates, because they usually get delayed.
Q. What one track never fails?
A. I always play out: ‘The chant (Ed Kane’s Dirtbag Mix) –Prok and Fitch because it always goes off.
Q. Where have you been playing recently?
A. I have 2 residencies, one at Dirtbag/Jet @ Egg, and one at If @ Bushwackers which is a wicked afterhours party up in Birmingham. Iv been playing up in the midlands loads recently, as well as various spots round London.
Q. Who is you top tip for 2007 apart from yourself?
A, Keep an eye out for the Ninja Cowboys. They always rock it.
Q. What ingredients make a good party?
A. Im happy in the scabbiest club ever as long as the people, the music, and the sound system rock.
Q. What’s your favourite tune?
A. Ever? Probably Knockout by Cirez D, but there so many.
Q. Who would be part of your fantasy crowd?
A. It doesn’t matter who’s there as long as they’re going off.
Q. Where’s your top Country to play?
A. Iv played a few different places, but London is still the best city for me.
Q. Where’s the weirdest place you’ve played?
A. Iv never really played anywhere weird.
Q. If wasn’t a DJ I’d be?
A. Up shit creek.
