DJ Aphrodite aka Gavin King, is the man behind Aphrodite Recordings. Throughout the 90’s, he released 2 artist albums under Richard Branson’s V2 recordings. Aphrodite is known for playing out a good vibe that ranges from classic to upfront and completely exclusive dubplates. His travels are far reaching. "I started out 12 years ago, DJing acid house, and then I was there when it turned into hardcore and when it turned into jungle.” the namesake has been with him since. Through various chance meetings with DJs Micky Finn and Claudio Giussani, Urban Shakedown was born. Over the years, Aphro's own Aphrodite Recordings and Urban Takeover, a joint label with Micky Finn followed. The musical progression to Drum n Bass was a natural step over the years through hardcore and jungle. Aphrodite Recordings is the base outlet for all music with the Aphro signature. DJ Aphrodite is known for playing out a good vibe that ranges from classics to upfront and exclusive dubplates. Aphro is invited to DJ in countries all over the world. Aphrodite's remixes and DJ'ing has and is exploding on a global scale. "It's always just me alone in my studio, working late at night. I don't have any set method for putting tracks together -- it's just whatever sounds good."
