Sharkey Interviews Squad-E For Freeformation: Happily Every Plastered!

This article is about Freeformation: Happily Ever Plastered! @ Hidden in London (UK), Fri 03 Oct 2008

We touch down with Squad-E as we break his Freeformation Virginity Hidden style. Come and have a read of this and see what kinda Jam tickles his pickle and what he has been up to lately.

Hiya Wayne it’s your first time at Freefomation are you looking forward to it and what are you expecting?
Not sure if it counts but I did a Freeformation night in Auckland, New Zealand earlier this year which was ace so now I can’t wait to see what’s in store over here. I’ll probably expect to do some badger spotting too.

We have a Jam Room at Freeformation which is an anything goes type of room. If you had the chance to play something completely different what kind of set would ya play and why?
I’d love to mix up a selection of my favourite tunes for years, from all genres. I love everything from UB40 to Pendulum so i ain’t too sure how that would go down!!

What has been your biggest record this year and tell me why ya chose that one?
I guess Doesn’t Matter has been pretty big for me this year. Even though hardcore wise it was a Squad-E remix, I produced the track with Jorg Schmidt as a dance mix under Hypasonic. It’s gone down really well in both genres and the video’s knocking about on the music channels.

Any new music or albums In the pipeline you can tell Freeformation about?
Well myself and Re-Con have just mixed the Hardcore Til I Die album which has done wicked. Already cracking on with the follow up and getting tracks ready for CHX5. Finished a couple of belting D:Code tracks recently on AATW and there are a few cheeky hardcore remixes to listen out for.

What was your first rave and if you were to pay to go and see someone who would it be and why?
The first rave I played at was HTID 14 which feels like a lifetime ago. If I had to pay to go and see someone it’d have to be the Mrs, because I’m not allowed to go and see her when she’s singing!

Jam is a big word at Freeformation. Squad-e what is your favourite jam?
NBA Jam!!!!

What was the last C.D you brought?
I bought The Script album from itunes the other day but the last actual, physical CD was both Estelle and Kanye West’s albums. Something different for on the road.

What is your favourite Matt Damon movie and what do you think makes him so special?
Bourne Identity ‘s cool and what can I say, he’s Matt Damon!

You can catch Squad-E play his debut set for Freeformation at Happily Ever Plastered on 3rd October @ Hidden.
