Lucy Fur talks about her Chops for Convergence’s 11th Birthday this Friday!

This article is about Frantic Presents Convergence The 11th Birthday @ Hidden in London (UK), Fri 03 Jul

Only a few days to go till the return of London's longest-running and biggest Filth brand. It's the 11th Birthday of Frantic's Convergence on Friday where there will be an 8 hour filth fest with 16 DJs including Lucy Fur. We caught up with Lucy to find about her memories of convergence and her love of chops!

When did you get into Dance Music?
I 1st got into dance music when I was 15. The 1st club night I ever went to was Club Class in Maidstone, and then after that my real clubbing days started off to trance at a little place called The Music Factory in Folkestone, Kent. Those were the days!

Which up and coming DJs and Producers are rocking it for you right now?
There are many to choose from but I would have to go with consistency. In light of this, I would have to say Ross Homson. His sets from warm up to hard as I always enjoy and mostly because he plays his own productions. They never leave the CD wallet!

Who would be on your dream Filth line up and why?
Oooooh- this is pretty easy-

Paul Glazby- surely don’t need to explain!?
Nik Denton- Loosh hardly gets to play really hard sets but loves it when he does!
Steve Maynard b2b Tom Basquil- these guys play my fav b2b sets!
Ben Stevens- uplifting hardness!
Adam M- full on thrap!
Wayne Smart- heard a few times recently and he’s relentless!

When did you first play for Frantic?
It must have been about 5/6 years ago for a Convergence event! It was at Egg in London and it was b2b with my best mate Louise (DJ Dirtybitch for old skool crew and DJ Elle these days!). We loved it and had the best set!

Favourite all time tune?
Impossible to answer sorry! It changes all the time!

Top 5 tunes in your box?
At the moment-

The Mighty Loosh, Nik Denton & Lucy Fur
Feel The Friction, Nik Denton Vs Testube Babies (Lucy Fur remix)
Orange Thrush, Ben Stevens & Adam M bootleg
Give Me A Reason, TDV (Tom Parr & Ginge bootleg) still!
Death Warrant, Wayne Smart & Phatt Beats Vs Defective Audio

What are your best memories of Convergence?
One of my favourite Convergence events was at Scala in London. I played the main room and someone was late so got to play 30mins over! Main room was rocking- loved it!

Vinyl or CDs?
Vinyl every time!

Favourite venue?
Currently, it is Alter Ego in Manchester. It is a gorgeous little venue with a kicking sound system, and we currently hold Coalition and Toolbox events here.

North or South?
Mmmm Nouth ;)

Any forthcoming releases you would like to tell us about?
I am in the studio this weekend to produce a track for my all girls EP called ‘Girls At Work’ which will be released on Toolbox in September. Tracks are from myself, Jo Jo and DJ Elle.

What other music do you listen to?
Everything! My iPod currently has on it Lily Allen, Massive Attack, Led Zepplin, Girls Aloud, Justin Timberlake, trance, DnB, electro….!

Favourite Hard House chop?
Partial to the classic, but of late the Ga Ga chop is a firm favourite.

Lamb Chop or Pork chop?Lamb

Mint or Apple Sauce?
Apple!
