YOSHITAKA KONO - RawStreetDown

Thanks to everyone who made it down to our last Misstake, the Launch of www.misstake.org.uk was a fabulous evening full of surprises and good vibes!
This time Misstake brings the Argentinean duo MORIKKIS (Berlin-based Román Fleischer aka Dirty Room and Barcelona-based Nicolás Hardmeier aka Tácito) are coming to London to bring their LIVE ACT full of contagious straight-forward and funky attitude that makes you feel a body and mind shaking experience. Go to our website to listen one of their powerful live sets!
On the art side we are delighted to showcase the analogue street photography by Yoshitaka Kono, who will also do live photography of his unique style during the night!

MORIKKIS : was formed in 2004 by Nicolás Hardmeier (Tacito) and Román Fleischer (Dirty Room). After several years of studying music production and the physics of sound, both got to release their music individually through labels from around the world (Attary and Trebol Records from Colombia, Vekton Music from Germany, Unlock Recordings and Mamba Tunes from Argentina, Influential Records from UK, Kritical Noize Records from Italy). In 2008 Román moves from Argentina to Barcelona where Nicolas has been living for 7 years. They quickly start to produce tracks and play very active and dynamic live sets, grabbing the attention of some of the most important clubs around the Europe like Bar 25 in Berlin and London’s Fabric. After their first release as Morikkis and with a couple of Ep’s on the way, they keep touring around Europe and growing rapidly into the electronic music scene. The live act of the Argentinean duo is a blend of hot and tasty euro latin sounds.

YOSHITAKA KONO: RAWSTREETDOWN is a collaboration of analogue street photography by Yoshitaka Kono, with the sound track of “street-sounds” designed by HKB FiNN. Yoshitaka Kono is an Osaka born London resident whose work explores the extremes of dark and light. He moved here in 1997 because he was fascinated with multicultural/cosmopolitan places, and also thought to learn the language would be an advantage. Studied Product Design in Osaka collage of art before coming.
Always interested in doing something creative, photography was one of the things he wanted to try.
He bought a cheap Canon Slr from the duty free shop when went to Australia about 5years ago. Just playing with the camera as a toy Yoshi became to realize that Photography was a free art form when he saw famous artist's work such as William Klein, Daido Moriyama, etc.
In this collection, his pictures of everyday street scenes catch the vibrancy of the cities separated by space and culture, yet, become one when seen through a unique perspective which distils everyday life into utopian moments of sublime abstraction of light and dark. Immerse yourself in the energy of his vision where he captures the essence of the cities that share an adherence to their rich history and enjoy the total obliviousness of their denizens when held in his unique gaze. Yoshi embraces minimalism in a way to avoid what he describes as “mid-tone saturation”, his work has a vibrancy which is highly evocative and subtle. Originally printed on 12x16in Fiber-based paper, the raw edge displayed Silver Gelatine Photographes.
At present Yoshitaka tries to do more portraits photography, his recent projects include promo shoots for Djs and the second edition of RAWSTREETDOWN (…).
