Eric Volta-There aren’t many artists out there make their debut on some of the bigger labels by climbing out of the demo pile but that is exactly what Eric Volta did when he made his debut on such as Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird Records. Django was released and hit 32 on Beatport’s Tech House chart & featured on Pete Tong’s essential selection. Eric Volta has kept a rather low profile in London underground electronic music scene over the last few years making most of his Dj appearance’s un-announced or hidden on line-ups relying on strength of his productions to speak for themselves rather than the nature of self-promotion. Releases soon followed on the famed Four:Twenty Records as a collaboration with long-time friend and D DUB production partner Cozzy D then on Cozzy’s Lower East Records & a respected Australian deep house label BEEF. Remixes were produced for Danny Daze on Nervous Records, Homework on Exploited Records, App on WYS! Records & Arunaud le Texier’s Safari Numerique even asked to remix Hatiras’s legendary Spaced Invader. In the Summer of 2011, Eric Volta was asked to take up a residency with London’s highly respected lo*kee – who Mixmag quoted as “the best (and most private) Sunday afternoon rendezvous to hit East London in a long time”Recently Eric Volta has teamed up with one of lo*kee’s creators – Sebastian Voigt and the two have joined forces and combined studios. The first production was quickly signed to Toronto’s My Favorite Robot which entered Beatport’s Nudisco’s top 20 – peaking at 19.Recently Eric Volta has recorded a new track with UK Hip-Hop’s Terrafirma’s D.Ablo which has caught the ear of Maceo Plex and will be released on Maceo’s Ellum Audio.
Neii Jass- A Lithuanian DJ and a Producer, was born in 1981 in Vilnius. His first introduction with Techno and House music was at home watching a report about Berlin House on German TV. Since that day his interest in music grew with him, at the age of 14 he was already known locally for organising underground parties and DJ'ing. He started collecting records from lo fi , indie, jazz, electronica, house, and techno. At the age of 18 he decided to move to London. Nothing would make him more happy than being able to get some fresh records from the record shops, visit famous and infamous clubs, see all the artists and progress both, as a DJ and Producer. In the year 2007 he started an underground warehouse club in East London called My Klik House. Soon it became a well known place for underground parties in East London, which helped him to gain respect in the local circuit. Since then Neri is a regular feature on London's electronic music scene and has played at various warehouse venues and clubs, such as Ministry of Sounds, Cable, The Egg , Pacha, Turnmills, The Whitehouse, Unit 7, 93 Feet East, Cafe 1001, 54 ,The Gramophone, Bar 512 , On the Rocks, and other places. His DJ sets are versatile and dynamic, ranging from deep - tech- house influenced with tribal- dub grooves. He is well known for creating unique vibe through his blend of sounds on the dance floor.
Upstairs -The Unwanted Family are back upstairs with a carnival special. Taking you on a deep and magical journey from Dub to Disco over two rooms at The Horse and Groom. Showcasing the beginning of this colourful journey is a man with history, love, dub and roots running through his blood. He lights up every dance with his positive education and true don riddim selections... Earl Gateshead, the front man of the legendary Trojan Soundsystem. Earl Gateshead began deejaying in Brixton in 1979 and has received worldwide recognition for his 20 year residencies at The Dive Bar, Blue Note, Plastic People and most recently at Space in Ibiza. Gateshead worked as a selector and MC with Cutty Ranks, Big Youth, Dr. Alimantado or Dennis Alcapone. Since its creation in 1968, Trojan Records has led the way in presenting the very best in classic Jamaican sounds, from the Rocksteady and early Reggae and Dub sounds that dominated in the years of its launch, up to the modern styles of Dancehall and Jungle. Trojan has highlighted the cream of Jamaican talent, with the likes of Bob Marley & The Wailers, Dennis Brown, John Holt, Ken Boothe, Toots & The Maytals and many more. Disco is a sound close to the Horse and Groom's heart and the Unwanted Family have booked a special Disco headliner that will compliment Earl's early selections and keep you groovin' into the night.
Alongside Earl will be Quintessentials and Rekids superstar TOBY TOBIAS!
Toby has been bustin out beats since the early 90's. He has put out a well recieved album on Rekids, as well as singles - and released on Bearfunk, Tirk, Tiny Sticks, Jisco, Quintessentials among others, as well as putting many remixes out there - in a recognisable house tinged with disco style. He has collaborated again with Kathy Diamond for his second album, also sometime collaborator with Felix Dickinson (Mythical Beasts) Nesreen Shah, and the new talent Marcus Marr. Warming up the dance we have The Roots Brothers, these guys bring non-stop positive vibes. Filling in the gaps we have the Unwanted Family and Friends picking those choice tracks that they have become famous for. The welcome return of the Secret Selectors Saloon, the Groom's cosiest room, where you can expect ultimate party vibes from a full host of exciting genres. If you could get in last year you'll know what we’re talking about! Jump on board the Unwanted carnival journey with plenty of Red Stripes and carnival rum cocktails along the way, the train departs at 9pm and goes early into the morning. As Earl put's it - "YEAH YEAH!
