With the dawning of the internet era, a website was created (www.faithfanzine.com) with includes the most liveliest forum out there. Faith search out up and coming djs as well as legends that we believe our loyal crowd of heads and soul girls will dig. Djs that have graced the Faith parties include, Derrick May, Derrick Carter, DJ Heather, Don Letts, Norman Jay, Kid Batchelor, Phil Asher, Pete Heller, Brett Johnson, Ame, Maurice Fulton, The UnaBombers, Clive Henry, Justin Robertson, Dixon, Rocky, Diesel and Ashley Beedle, Andrew Weatherall, Dan Ghenacia and so many others.
In 2006 Faith are STUART PATTERSON who alongside Soulsonic's Leo Elstob provided Londons' late 90s with some of its best underground moments and as the guvnor at the LODGE BAR now has one of Londons best places to hear great music in an intimate (and free] space, DAVE JARVIS who started running parties back in the day with nights such as Pussy Galore and Native Soul he also run DADHOUSE records with Chris Bangs and recorded successfully as ORIGINAL SOULBOY. TERRY FARLEY was a instigator of the acid house crew BOYS OWN and alongside Steve Hall started the JUNIOR BOYS OWN record label and with remix/production partner Pete Heller had top 20 hits as Fire island and remixed people as diverse as new order and The Farm to Robert Owens and Armando.
EXCLUSIVE BEN WATT INTERVIEW: Are you looking forward to your debut gig at TDK Cross Central? It's a bank holiday weekend, it's a main slot with a leading London underground party-outfit in faith, it's on a saturday night in London with a die-hard following of inspired electronic house and deep techno music lovers. What's not to look forward to!!
Did you buy TDK cassettes at School? Of course, D120's were crap - they snapped and sounded like thin air. SA46's were the dons. Best sound around at the time when you only had a few quid to cobble your music together.
How has music changed over the past three years? The mainstream has been turned inside out by piracy and downloading. the business model that held the industry together for years has been vandalized. this is good in that it democratizes music. it is bad in that piracy is making music-making for most people more and more cost-ineffective. You sometimes ask yourself, why bother, when a record you have spent a long time working on is on a free download site within 48 hours of sending out promo copies.
There is a kind of anarchistic belief that free music is good music, but consistently depriving creative people of their right to make a living from their work is tantamount to theft as far i'm concerned. Yes, we have all bought naughty bootlegs in our life, whether old-fashioned cassettes of gigs at camden market, a white label in a soho record shop or a bunch of tracks over the net, but when it becomes systematic and organized piracy i feel we might all be doomed unless someone dreams up a way to stop it.
Who are you looking forward to seeing at TDK? Watching something you DON'T know, not always what you do. you might surprise yourself. the best stuff usually comes from where we least expect it and is often made by people we don't see coming.
