This article is about Frantic & Nukleuz present 10:15 @ KOKO in London (UK), Sat 11 Aug 2007
As the world's greatest Hard House event turns 10 on August 11th at KOKO in London, we invited DSI's lovers of hard, fast beats to recount their favourite memories from Frantic's 700 or so events over the years! Some stories were unprintable...but here are the best of the rest!
”Timeless at Koko October 2005 was the most awesome night ever. God damn it was hot and sweaty, so much so my hair morphed into an afro. The music was orgasmic, and it was the night I caught my boyfriend kissing....... himself. - Raa
“One of the Hard House Academys (think it might have been 2005?). Anyway…. I was sitting up on the balcony chatting when Steve Hill dropped his and Technikal’s remix of "Adagio for Strings"...EVERYONE who was sitting down immediately jumped up, put their hands in the air and the crowd roared. I had a truely amazing feeling of happiness and unity at that moment!” - Prophet
”The balconies and the green lasers at Brixton Academy. I was totally mesmerised for hours…they would also do this funky thing with smoke and change from green to blue so people’s hands looked like they were going up through clouds into the sky then it would move on up over all the balconies and over your head…amazing memory!” - lady-brock-htwad
"I used to be a massive trancehead and first started going clubbing at Turnmills. I Went to the very first Transmission in London as I live right next door and I got free tickets. I spent the first few hours in the Wildchild room as I was there for the trance but the Frantic room was right next door with 10 times the amount of people, 10 times brighter lights and 10 times better music! Ever since then I have been fucking hooked! Frantic got me into hard house and I have never looked back :)” - Harry-Bob-SDM
“Well after over 6 years of clubbing with Frantic, it’s hard to choose but this one has to be my funniest moment. It was Timeless at the one and only Camden Palace, April 2005 (I think) What an un-fuckin-believable night. It was Tidy Boys last set, my mates and myself all decided to go and dance up on the bridge (above the DJs) as it was so packed. I remember looking over watching them both mixing away, when all of a sudden I became one of the only people to witness the funniest thing. Andy was bending over looking through the CD books (what ever happened to a good old vinyl mix?) when Amadeus smacked him on the bum, Andy smacked his back, then Amadeus pulled down his pants and gave him a moony. They were laughing away but not as much as me, knowing I’d seen everything and they had no idea!” - little miss mental
“My best Frantic memory is easily from the first Frantic vs Storm back in 2005. I’d just started getting into clubbing and this one event set the tone for the next couple of years of my life. Not only was the music fantastic, the atmosphere electric, but the people I met were out of this world; a guy dressed as a bunny, cybers everywhere I turned, the random conversations with people I’d never met all at one huge party organised by two of the biggest hard dance brands in the UK. This weekend had everything; the warm-up, the main event, the after party and days, weeks, years down the line, one of the best memories I have.” - Just-Seany
”Seeing Cally and juice mix with different parts of the body for the first time…especially after being out the night before and thinking “am I really seeing that??” - Agent-Bunnykins-TB
"I saw the Tidy Boys for the first time ever at KOKO. At the end of their set, they dropped Paul Glazby's 'Fucking Hostile'. As the vocal asked everyone to look around at all the "motherfucking people" there, the place just went absolutely crazy. It was a proper "united as ravers" moment, and nothing was gonna take our hard dance away!" - Jason-DSI “The Frantic that comes to my memory was at Camden Palace. I had gotten extremely drunk and was trying to hide from people so they couldn't see the state I was in. I was doing this by covering my head with my hands and arms. ‘Cos that was obviously going to work! I then sobered up and met a future boyfriend” – Miss-Maxine
”God it is hard to remember…but I remember going to the first Hard House Academy at Brixton academy, having never been to that venue before either and me and my fella at the time nearly peeing our pants in excitement! It was HUUUUUUUGGGGGGEEE! We spent the night bouncing around like over-adrenalised kangaroos in a giant playground. I’ve never had so much messy fun! I also remember various Frantics at Camden and how they used to pack soooo many ravers in that the sweat used to pour down the walls! Also I remember being at there and the place falling apart…or so it seemed! First there were 3 of us on the balcony at the top, swinging on the railing at the edge in the corner, yelling our heads off to somebody dropping a tune called "Baby Wants To Ride" and a piece of the bar coming away in our hands! So we ran away like naughty skool kids…then later in the night, walking through one of those side staircases which are away from the music and watching a piece of the ceiling falling onto the guy infront’s head! Veeeerrrrrrry random! - kittee80
“My best Frantic memories were both in 2004 and 2005 as these were my first 2 years proper clubbing, naïve and shy to the antics and goings on. These were my favorite times...and I met some proper wicked people and danced with a few memorables briefly too...oh they weere the days! They might be gone, and the crowd changed immensely, but I am enjoying it more now....with a little bit more of a clue…I think! Frantic events just get bigger and better...what can I say other than thanks to Will and the gang, especially the DJs and more so...my fellow ravers...and mum...hehe!” - gr8-m8-SSD
”A small but awesome event was Chemistry in April this year at Hidden. It was my 21st birthday and I had a giant key tied to me and all my buds stomping with me..... it was an awesome night…and Convergence was the first night where I didn't sit down once... the DJs were on fire! Frantic Never disappoint!” - H4rdc0re
“Basically to cut a very long story short...I had been trying to persuade Andy Whitby to play a track that I had never heard played out. I knew it would rock a place to its foundation. Well at Frantic’s 8th Birthday (13/8/05) at Camden Palace, I asked if he was going to play it. To my disappointment he said no...but he was just setting me up! Half way through his awesome B2B set with Alex Kidd when he dropped Yoji – “Look @ the Heaven”. It was amazing. The whole club went mental, it was peak time in the set and the crowd fucking loved it! It went off so well and I was almost in tears it was so overwhelming. Anyway the Frantic photographer happened to photograph the whole scene...it made it onto the front of the Frantic DSI card and just lately the very moment is on the cover of a new CD! Not just my favourite Frantic moment but my favourite EVER clubbing moment!” - Wain-Johnstone
"Not seeing Andy Farley for like 10 months and then seeing him return to the paace at return of the king! And hearing Karim classics in the main room at Timeless" - Jennie-B
"There are so many its hard to pick just one...I think one I will always remember was my very first Frantic working for Will - it was Frantic v Fevah @ Camden Palace. Around 1:30AM Robyn (another ex-Frantic worker) and I went up to the very top balcony and the overwhelming feeling looking below at the see of people going off to something you’ve helped create was immense." - Amanda
“My best memory is of my very first Frantic which was Frantic vs Wildchild at SeOne in November2004. It was my first ever hard house night - I had been in Miami for 4 years at uni, and I was also playing techy electro in bars there. I met Eduardo Herrera over there and he said that if I was ever in the UK to give him a call and meet at a Frantic event. I didn’t have a clue about hard house. I turned up in shirt, trousers and shoes (what an idiot!) I arrived during Ed’s set. When he came off we met for a drink and chat, where he introduced me to Never Enough Maria, and my best mate as he is now Raf E…and also now we are a b2b DJ act called cardinal difference. I have never played tech/electro since that night, my life changed forever really. I have a massive social circle of friends from hard house, met so many top named DJs and becoming good friends with them. THANK YOU FRANTIC YOU SAVED MY LIFE!” - DJ-SEBASTIEN
