Good God what a night.
Well where do I begin?

I suppose I best start with the queue.... What a joke that was. I got to the event at about 10ish and didn't get through the door till about 2330 which was a real pain however it was definitely worth the wait.
Why the queue took so long I don't know. Rumours were flying that people were being asked to take shoes and socks off, I don't know if anyone can confirm this or not, but when I went through this wasn't happening... If that’s the case then why change policy half way through? Either security is tight for the whole night or not at all otherwise there is no point.

I managed to see the last half hour of Whitby and Gage and that put me in a better mood after the long queue however to be honest my first priority was to get some beer and red bull down my neck, but what I did hear / pay attention to was fantastic. I've recently become a fan of Gage and I was not disappointed.

Greg Brookman and the Nu Energy collective impressed me as well. The mixing was sharp there was loads of Prodigy thrown in so I was a happy bunny at this point. And the guitarist was also on top form.

Lisa Pin-up again exceeded all expectations once again and performed her magic as usual but it was a bit of a shame when the music died inexplicably at one point much to the disappointment to the crowd, however once rectified Lisa worked the crowd and that minor setback was pretty much ignored.

Now the next act really blew me away. I’ve never heard any of Cally and Juice's work before but bloody hell I never expected anything like that. It was just unreal, fantastic, really kept the place jumping, loads of scratching (with hands over eyes at one point if I remember correctly) and again another load of Prodigy thrown in for good measure. The MC at this point (apologies I cant remember his name) was also the nuts and again really performed working the crowd. I am definitely a fan after last night will be searching for Cd's very very soon.

Alex Kidd again was excellent and worked the crowd in his own unique way by leaving the decks and going to the front of the stage and waving his arms around like a loon. But hey who am I to criticise it worked for him so why not?

And Phil also provided a good set.

I've read this back and I've sung the praises of all the artists that were on in the main room, however, this is all genuine. I really cannot fault any of the mixes / music that was played last night. Everyone exceeded my expectations of the night, with loads of old skool and new skool mixes worked in all the sets. I think every DJ I saw played at least one bit of Prodigy, the crowd was fantastic, didn't see any hassle or grief and was all good spirited fun. Oh and can’t forget the dancers they also put on a good show too.

The only criticism of the night was that the queuing for everything was ridiculous. From getting in, or the cigarette queue. But sod it, that will all fade into obscurity like every other queue does, I had a fantastic night and I'm sure that everyone else did too.

I only found it hot at the back of the main room by the bar or upstairs. Down on the main floor was fine. A bit of air con wouldn't go a miss tho.

My only criticisms are the queue, we had a nightmare as we got e-tickets and were in the wrong fucking queue, no signs anywhere to tell us where we should be, and the heat!!!! can't remember CP being this hot years ago.

Must admit though this event was awesome and by far the best i've been to this year!

Nice to see everybody havin it, also the no smoking wasn't bad, i just chained it in the queue and didn't need to go out for a fag after entry.

So spannered today though!

Firstly a big thank you all the DJs, Frantic Workers, Koko Management and Staff and everyone from Nukleuz Records and Harderfaster to the Productions crews who made the 10th Birthday so much fun...

As always we were happy with many things and came away with some things we need to improve.

My personal highlights were seeing the start of Andy Whitby and Cally Gage and the jaw dropping antics of Cally&Juice and Alex Kidd! We hope that on a night of many different musical styles you found something for you to make the 10th Birthday special.

I was pleased with the additional sound we put in the Main Room, although didnt expect to be asked to turn it down within 10 minutes of opening. Unfortunately this new sound did make the sound in the 2 other rooms sound insufficient and although we brought in state of the art mixers, CDJs etc in these rooms next time we will bring in new sound as well.

While we did get 90% of the capacity in Koko by 1215 Ive asked,in future, that the venue get 2 additional searchers on the door to speed up the last part of the ticket queue and please accept my apologies for those who arrived later to the ticket queue and had to wait. Many of you will have seen me in the entrance area from 845pm to the doors shut at 2am making sure the venue were helping people as much as they could.

The cloakrooms worked well and bar waiting times were under control and the lighting, lasers and visuals impressed.

With the issue of heat we worked hard to reduce temperatures. The live PAs and the other production crew who were setting up all afternoon will confirm that the venue's air con was on from 5pm and by the time we opened at 9pm the venue was very cool. We hired the industrial fan on the right hand side of the stage and an additional fan in the Top Rm. I also arranged for the venue to allow the entrance lobby to be used as a chill out and the front door to be kept open to allow the free flow of fresh air. If you stood as I did on the main balcony the air con units could be felt working throughout the night, but we will definately invest in another large industrial fan for the main stage and we are in talks with the venue as to where else the council will allow us to put up fans.

Thanks again to everyone for making the birthday something special and I look forward to hearing who people thought was the best DJ or PA of the night? Looking at the smaller rooms a lot of people came and told me that Andy Rise was sensational!

Thanks for the feedback.

Its nice to know what will be happening with the venue and that you are looking into sorting the ventilation out, and that you have made requests for extra security.

great night, great atmosphere but fucking hell! missed almost all of whitby and gage. thought i would easily be in there for it arriving at the time i did but that que took an hour 45. absolute pisstake.
i couldnt believe the heat in there, never been so hot in a place before. and what the fuck was with that arrangement for smoking? absolute joke, i smoked inside the venue all night, not having any of that bollocks.

couple of my mates were pissed off all night due to the que and the heat. for me thats nothing you just gotta deal with it. the smoking though, thats a big issue!

good night, from what i see from cage & whitby wicked stuff, best of the night for me followed by lisa pin up.

When we return to Koko next year we will open earlier and Ive already arranged with the venue to have more security searching. This will mean that you all get in quicker. Once again sorry for the wait...

sorry, mate, but that just doesn't fit with my experience and that of all the people in the pre-bought tickets queue.

we got there at 11, got in at 1am, and there was still a queue of at least 300 people behind us, all the way down to the Hope & Anchor pub, and round that corner as well.

i got in the queue at half 10 and got in around half 12 and yeah it was still going right round that pub!

WHICH is where i joined it. said no entry after 1 even if you have a ticket, so fuck knows what happened there.

we got in from the boat party around that time and there was way more than 90% capacity more like 150%. the event was totaly oversold!!!

the venue's air con was on from 5pm

The air con may have been turned on but it just could not handle the shear amount of people in there!!!

There was no room to dance anywayere in the whole venue!!

My wife and my mates girlfriend both had to leave after only being inside for one hour before they passed out!! Im sure we saw plenty of other people having to leave for the same reason.

Was really looking forward to this night but it was totally spoiled by the greed of the organisers for selling more tickets than what the venue could comfortably hold.

All in all I had a wkd night, yeah it was hot but I've been to clubs that are hotter, all I did was get ice from the bar to rub my arms down with and that did the trick. Every time I went to the Lobby to try and cool down I was told by security to go back into the main room as we werent allowed to be there.
The best bit for me was the crowd such a friendly crew.
