Born Again!
After being such a regular early on in what had become a ritual for me, I could only be talking about Ibiza Underground. I was eager to see what had become of the idea. I was eager to go back, after I left the last one I had loads of ideas for the where the brand could go next and what it could go on to do and I wondered if those same ideas where shared by the powers that be.

I spend ages looking forward to this one, days in fact, I had my mp3 player pimped out with the latest electro and deep house in anticipation, I wanted to be apart of it so badly, I didn’t want to be that dork dancing but not knowing the tunes. I was taking no risks, I was coming totally prepared.

Needless to say, some other powers that are, tried their hardest to get in my way. I talk of TFL, who went out of their way to shut down the Jubilee and Victoria lines. Oh well fuck em, nothing was gonna get in my way, I out rightly refused to fail and when I finally arrived, it’s no surprise I arrived with a big smile on my face.

I was taken back by what I saw, was I really at the same venue? The crowd I once knew had been replaced, but by what? I honestly find it hard to describe, this new crowd seem to have been swallowed by the brand, all decked out in colours, the most vibrant colours of the spectrum. They were truly a sight for my eyes with pinks, yellows and greens normally reserved for hardcore and hard house raves.

And to further talk of the crowd, that oh so friendly crowd that mingled with anyone and everyone, everyone smiling and talking and this was seen from before people even got in and all the way up until people left.

As I mentioned earlier, it was a while since I was there last and as a result, a lot of things had changed. Babalou had now been incorporated and it was a good touch. It made it easier to navigate and there were less mandatory stairs. The growth had been for the better and who’d wanna miss out on that.

And coming back to the crowd, a crowd that seemed to embrace what was available and make it into something else, a crowd that looked inexperienced in terms of music when you look at what they were wearing but yet, they flourished with a youthful exuberance you hardly find anywhere else.

Oh and before I sign off, let me pay homage to the DJ’s, Danny D.Costa, Le Doubles, 2's Company et al. What a fantastic job each and every one of em done. In fact I’m finished talking go and check out the photographs and then count down the days till the next one.
