Dave I am starting to rate your work as one of the best, all your galleries form this event are superb. True your individuality and dark style is refreshing but what I have seen from this event is a kind of progression, perhaps because of the abundance of colour at this rave was unmissable but it seems that you have upped your ISO and got more light trails apart from the Frantic pix of Damo (aka Steinbeck)

Seems to me like a good move mate keep your origanality but intergrate conventional club shot into the darkside.

Thanks bud...
Yes the lighting at GlowBall was excellent and loads of people wearing cyber - makes abig difference - ISO settings are my usual settings.

Thanks for such positive comments.

I was using full manual for this event as I normally use shutter priority, which I believe was holding me back. Probably why the pics are slightly different.
A bit of a risk testing full manual at such a large event, but it appears to have worked out ok.

The pics of Damo are the best I've done so far for light trails, the conditions were perfect, v.low light and v.bright light sticks.

The trouble with high ISO is granularity on the 400D, it's why I keep it low. Next cam has a very high ISO so 1600 should have little or no granularity. Also high ISO's always appear to warm the pic too much for my liking.

The most annoying thing was the strobe lights, ruined a lot of pics. Although did take a few without flash and just waited for the strobe to flash, worked fine, lol...

Pissed off I missed the fire poi.

Nah that's old, lol... The latest cams from Canon are 50D and the new 5DmkII,
If I can find the funds I'll go for the 5D mkII (21Mpix with full HD video, £2200 for the cam and another £990 on a lens, as it's full frame massive jump in quality and I have to buy EF lenses not EF-S). If I can't afford it, will have to go for the 50D, 15Mpix £1200 (cropped sensor) so old lenes will fit.

Dave that's quite a difference in price mate, but old Chinese proverb says.....

Wise man who sits on mountain will see eagle before villagers ;)

Or boys never grow up there toys just get more expensive.

Either one is not very relevant just feeling random this afternoon
(caffeine deprivation)

always does... forget your own flash when you have lots of white strobes! move your feet to get the best angle and if you can move your subjects as well (dance with them until you can work them around hehehehehe)

side note: dont be afraid of using 800 iso with the 400d... trust me ! LOL

Trying to be a bit more creative, so manual is a must.

first main shoot with the 10-22mm I don't know if it's just me but it appears a bit softer than the Sigma 10-20mm.

Prob 20-30% of my pics are from the Strobes, hard to tell the difference.

I vary between 400 & 800 depending on the situation. Prob 50-50 for GlowBall
800 on the 400D is not bad, 1600 is quite grainy.

Changing it at the end of the month, 5DmkII or 50D
